Sivers Semiconductors collaborates with PureSoftware to demonstrate 5G integrated reference design leveraging NXP® Semiconductors

Barcelona, Spain – Sivers Semiconductors AB (”Sivers”) today announces that its business unit, Sivers Wireless, will feature a live demonstration of a fully-functioning and deployment-ready base station reference design based on the NXP’s Layerscape® Access LA12xx baseband processor, Sivers’ 5G mmWave transceiver module, TRB02801, and PureSoftware’s software stack at the MWC exhibition in Barcelona starting February 27th.

Sivers and PureSoftware have jointly developed an O-RAN-compliant base station reference design for the 5G millimeter wave market based on the NXP Layerscape processor platform. Both Sivers and Puresoftware have a long history of working together with NXP to develop 5G millimeter wave solutions. The O-RAN ecosystem enables open standardized interfaces to allow more vendors to serve the 5G infrastructure market, thus expanding the customer set and addressable market for this solution.

As a result of the latest development, Sivers will be demonstrating live the reference design with the highest level of RF integration on the market. By combining NXP’s programmable baseband processor, the LA12xx, the Sivers 5G mmWave transceiver module, the TRB02801, and PureSoftware’s software stack, this solution enables customers to differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market by having market-leading performance and power efficiency with the simplest possible bill of materials.

“This solution will give several key benefits to our customers. With the highest level of integration, the design effort for our customers will be at a minimum, which will result in a shorter time to market, higher quality, and less risk, all of which are critical success factors for our customers. On top of that, this solution gives market-leading performance and energy efficiency, which is key to addressing the energy consumption in the networks”, says Anders Storm Group CEO of Sivers Semiconductors.

“We are delighted to partner with Sivers Semiconductors to deliver one of the key elements of a 5G solution based on PureSoftware’s leading Artha 5G software stack for O-RAN based solutions. This production-ready stack will accelerate time to market needs of end customers while ensuring best performance”, says Noy Kucuk, Senior Vice President, HiTech & Telecom Services, PureSoftware

With more than 80,000 attendees and 2,000 exhibitors, the MWC Barcelona is the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event in the world. Sivers Semiconductors’ stand is in Hall 5 (Stand #5E2) at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, where several live demonstrations, meetings and discussions will take place between February 27th till March 2nd.
