ITTIA and Micrium Collaborate to Offer High-Performance Data Processing on µC/OS RTOS with ITTIA DB SQL

June 15, 2016 — Bellevue, WA and Weston, FL — ITTIA, a leading provider of fast, high performance database products and tools, andMicrium, the premier real-time operating system (RTOS) provider for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the integration of ITTIA DB SQL and µC/OS RTOS, delivering high-performance data processing for mission-critical applications.

“As the market for secure, intelligent, and connected devices is constantly expanding, developers of these embedded devices seek the freedom to use standards such as SQL without relying on internet connectivity,” said Sasan Monteseri, ITTIA president and founder. “This need drove our collaboration with Micrium, leveraging our combined expertise to bring a powerful data processing capability to embedded systems.”

The joint solution allows for data saved in relational tables on both internal and external storage to be safely shared. Information is organized in a portable format suitable for long-term storage and interoperability with standard interfaces. Developers directly control task prioritization and database transaction boundaries to effectively manage shared processing and storage resources. Transactions automatically protect tables from various race conditions without blocking all access from other tasks. Database recovery also protects tables from inconsistency by never saving incomplete transactions.

“The embedded market is experiencing great demand for a complete one-stop development platform that includes sophisticated data management for complex and connected devices,” said Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. “The combination of ITTIA’s database with our RTOS leverages the strengths of each platform to deliver a single resource that allows developers to safety manage and share data in memory, space and performance-constrained devices.”

The embedded market is experiencing great demand for a complete one-stop development platform that includes sophisticated data management for complex and connected devices. The combination of ITTIA and Micrium ?C/OS provides a single resource for developers to safely manage and share data saved in relational tables on both internal and external storage. More powerful systems demand intelligent data processing capability to offer a competitive edge. Data distribution in ITTIA DB SQL enables applications to achieve high availability by replicating or synchronizing tables in a background task, protecting mission-critical data from potential disaster. When data is continuously shared with web services or other devices, the database software ensures that each new record or update is only transmitted once. Industry standard transport-layer security (SSL/TLS) protects remote transmissions when enabled in Micrium’s ?C/TCP-IP.
