SMX® RTOS Now Available for Kinetis™ K60 Cortex™-M4 Microcontrollers from Freescale

Costa Mesa, California, June 30, 2011 — Micro Digital, Inc. is pleased to offer SMX® RTOS support for the Kinetis™ K60 Cortex™-M4 microcontrollers from Freescale. This includes immediate availability of the smx preemptive real-time multitasking kernel, smxUSBH USB host stack, smxUSBD USB device stack, smxNS TCP/IP stack, and smxFS FAT file system with MMC/SD card driver.

SMX RTOS fully supports the Freescale K60 Tower development board TWR-K60N512 with the IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM toolsuite. smxAware extends the debugger to display smx kernel objects, queues, and diagnostic information, as well as graphical displays of task, ISR, and LSR timelines, processor usage, and task stack usage. It also displays file system, networking, and USB information. Free SMX RTOS evaluation kits are available to download at www.smxrtos.com/eval. Demos for file system and USB are available at www.smxrtos.com/demo.

Micro Digital, has had a long-time partnership with Freescale, supporting their Power Architecture® processors 15 years ago and ColdFire® and i.MX processors soon after,” said David Moore, director of development at Micro Digital. “We are pleased to continue this progression with their new Kinetis microcontrollers, which have common peripherals and ample on-chip memories and are, like SMX, targeted toward small- to medium-size systems.”

Availability and Licensing

SMX for Kinetis microcontrollers is available immediately for purchase and includes full source code, 90 days of technical support, and no per-seat charges. All of Micro Digital’s software is royalty-free and sold with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Evaluation kits are available, at no charge, for qualified evaluators from www.smxrtos.com/eval.
