RISC-V Global Summit Will Showcase Enormous Momentum for the Open Source Hardware Architecture and Software Ecosystem

• Call for Proposals, Sponsorship Sales, and Attendee Registration Now Open
• Event Spans December 12th through 15th; Summit Sessions Are December 13th and 14th

San Francisco, CA, July 29, 2022 – RISC-V International, the global open-design standards pioneer, announced its 2022 Global Summit North America will return to San Jose, California with a full in-person schedule, and opened its call for proposalssponsorship sales, and attendee registration.

“The RISC-V Summit will bring together the relentless innovations, deeply invested stakeholders, and leading-edge momentum of the RISC-V community, building on a profound culture of contribution and collaboration,” said RISC-V International CEO Calista Redmond. “By working together, RISC-V members are accelerating innovation and seizing global opportunities across the compute spectrum.”

Summit sessions run December 13th and 14th. On December 12th, RISC-V Member Day sessions return to enable technical committees and working groups to meet in person. Also on December 12th is the new RISC-V FutureWatch track, which will feature breaking news of products, technologies, ecosystem expansion, and more. Rounding out the week on December 15th is the enormously popular RISC-V Tutorial Day, spanning both technical and industry topics.

Call for Proposals Now Open

The Summit also comprises technical and industry sessions, showcasing innovations and momentum in research, development, and the overall market. This year will emphasize impressive developments in the RISC-V software ecosystem, within core and domain-specific software stacks as well as development toolchains.

“There is amazing innovation happening in the RISC-V community and our Summit allows everyone to share this great work,” explained RISC-V CTO Mark Himelstein. “Our technical sessions describe the ‘how’ of RISC-V, from how something is achieved through how it works.”

The chairs and vice chairs of RISC-V’s eight top technical committees chose the following topics for the Summit’s 2022 technical tracks:

Instruction Set Architecture (ISA). Submissions covering the active areas of virtualization, security, and AI/ML for RISC-V are particularly encouraged.

  • Software. Including the domain-specific solution stacks and development tools that will define the next decade of this architecture.
  • Systems-on-Chip (SoC). Submissions are encouraged to explore emerging trends in SoC design and integration as well as foundational technologies including boot security, firmware resilience, power and thermal management, virtualization, confidential computing, and similar.
  • Security. Security is now an essential component of system design and RISC-V’s advantages as a “clean slate” architecture creates a unique opportunity to make innovative security an intrinsic part of hardware, software and firmware.

Meanwhile, “Summit industry sessions break new ground,” said RISC-V Marketing Director Michele Clarke. “They include major announcements, offer new wisdom and insight, address the front-line challenges to growing a market, and issue calls to action to the global RISC-V community. We’re expecting a particularly lively discussion this year.”

The 2022 Industry tracks are:

  • Automotive
  • Building a Software Ecosystem
  • Edge & Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Communications & Networking (including 5G and CBRS small-cell networks)
  • Corporate and Market Development (including investing)
  • High-Performance Computing & Data Centers

Technical and Industry program committees will work in parallel to evaluate and select the most groundbreaking, informative, compelling proposals in each category. Each committee comprises active RISC-V members who are also distinguished experts and thought leaders in their respective areas. RISC-V International leadership is available to counsel the committees as requested, but the committees’ decisions are final.

RISC-V International will again be offering scholarships for speakers and attendees from underserved groups who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Sponsorships Offer Substantial Discounts to RISC-V Members

RISC-V Global Summit sponsorships are an unmatched opportunity to engage and influence R&D and C-suite leaders deciding the future of computing. With a membership that’s fueled by innovation and hungry for competitive advantage, the RISC-V Summit attracts IP and processor creators, software creators, system creators, and the ecosystem that supports them.

Each level of the 2022 sponsorship packages includes several new features designed to capture the attention of this growing market. A robust a la carte sponsorship menu offers ubiquitous Summit presence for prices below the entry-level booth package.

And RISC-V will once again offer a special lowest-cost booth package to academic and research institutions and startups.

“We’re committed to nurturing the next generation of technology leaders,” added Clarke.

Early Attendee Registrants Enjoy Big Savings

Attendees registering before October 14th get big savings on in-person Summit tickets, just $799 compared to the onsite price of $1199. Add the Tutorial Day sessions for just $300 more. Academic tickets are $199. Complete ticket information is available on the RISC-V Summit web site.

About RISC-V International
RISC-V International is the non-profit home of the open standard RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), related specifications, and stakeholder community. More than 2,900 RISC-V members across 70 countries contribute and collaborate to define RISC-V open specifications as well as convene and govern related technical, industry, domain, and special interest groups. RISC-V combines a modular technical approach with an open, royalty-free license model — meaning that anyone, anywhere can benefit from the IP contributed and produced by RISC-V.
