OKdo brings an end to SBC shortage with an exciting new partnership

Partnering with the engineering community and Radxa, a leading design service provider, OKdo pivots its strategy to offer customers a powerful solution to the ongoing supply chain crisis.

London, UK, 23 August 2022 – OKdo, part of RS Group PLC, today announced an exclusive partnership with Radxa to manufacture and distribute ROCK Single Board Computers (SBCs) and ROCK System on Modules (SoMs). With community at its core, the move will supercharge the performance and reach of the ROCK products via OKdo’s engineering expertise, technology, ecosystem partners, robust supply chain and global distribution channels.

With its focus on single-board computing for IoT and a customer-first approach at the heart of the company, OKdo is uniquely positioned to bring the ROCK SBCs to the global market. This new partnership with Radxa represents the continuation of the company’s evolution towards providing an accessible range of software, hardware, design services and solutions.

ROCK SBCs are advanced single-board computers designed to empower professional engineers, developers, and students worldwide to create innovative products at speed by making use of versatile hardware with a flexible design service model. Its small form factor provides a host of features as standard to enable users to develop connected solutions that are robust and secure.

What’s more, the ROCK range of boards can be customised. The ability to depopulate SBCs without compromising their integrity brings huge financial and environmental benefits, allowing professional design engineers to leverage cutting-edge technology for developing high-volume end products that meet their exact needs and work towards reducing e-waste.

Co-Founder and CTO of OKdo, Richard Curtin said “We’ve listened to our customers and understand the challenges that the current supply chain dynamic creates. Our mission is to solve customer problems, and we’re delighted to announce our partnership with Radxa which allows us to provide leading technology to our customers worldwide. This gives OKdo a unique capability to design, manufacture and distribute globally.”

He went on to say, “We’re putting the engineering community at the heart of our proposition as we acknowledge the importance of providing support to our customers and we’re actively inviting input from engineers across the globe to offer their expertise to ensure that we are pushing our offering to be the best that it can be.”

An expansive range of OKdo ROCK boards and SoMs will be launched to the market in the coming months, starting with the ROCK 4 SE which answers the requests of our customers for more features as standard. It comes with an M.2 expansion slot for large capacity drives, Real Time Clock (RTC) combined with the ability to shut down multiple areas of the board for extended battery operation and reduced energy consumption, eMMC memory port for industrial memory applications, USB PD/QC which enables the use of lower cost cables and higher reliability and USB-OTG and microphone input to name but a few as standard. The resulting professional-grade performance across speed power and board stability means there are countless industrial applications from preventative maintenance and connected logistics to access and security.

OKdo’s VP of Operations, Sarah Fawcett said, “We have a resilient supply chain and an agile design and manufacturing offer for our customers. Our internal supply chain expertise can help our partners navigate the enormous supply chain risks and challenges to the macro-economic climate today. Manufacturing today is entirely different to a few years ago, and we are ensuring we have coverage, capacity, and supply chain plans to manage uncertainty with our world-class team, and partners.”

This new partnership with RADXA is another step in OKdo’s exciting journey to be able to provide world-class products, services and solutions to their customers following the launch of the configurable DEBIX Model A board based on the NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor earlier this year.
