Keysight Technologies, Askey Collaborate to Accelerate Development of New 5G Designs on mmWave Frequencies

Keysight's 5G network emulation solution enables mobile ecosystem to validate new designs for fixed wireless access

SANTA ROSA, Calif., January 31, 2019

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that the company has been selected by Askey Computer Corporation to accelerate development of new 5G designs on millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies using Keysight’s 5G network emulation solution.

Askey Computer Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of ASUS Computers, specializes in the manufacturing and development of state of the art electronic and network communications products and tools. Keysight’s collaboration with Askey has resulted in the successful demonstration of industry-leading data rates using Askey’s 5G new radio (NR) customer premises equipment (CPE).  As a result, leading mobile operators can quickly deploy fixed wireless access (FWA), which relies on high performing CPEs operating in mmWave frequency spectrum to deliver wireless broadband services to customers’ homes.

The demonstration used a new CPE from Askey that leverages Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem. It also leveraged Keysight’s RF Design and Verification (DVT) Toolset to provide four component carriers (CC) and 2×2 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology support required to achieve these high data rates.

“Keysight’s 5G solutions enable us to accelerate development of 5G designs in support of emerging opportunities around the world,” said Robert Lin, chief executive officer at Askey. “We’re excited to continue our collaboration with Keysight to strengthen our ability to meet market demand with leading technology.”

Keysight’s 5G network emulation solution allows mobile device manufacturers and modem makers to validate new designs, addressing the entire device development workflow from early design, to acceptance and manufacturing. This solution leverages Keysight’s UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform to support mobile device verification and certification across radio frequency (RF), radio resource management (RRM), and protocol.

“Working closely with device makers such as Askey to demonstrate industry-leading data rates for fixed wireless access applications has enabled Keysight to speed wireless broadband rollout for global mobile operators,” said Cao Peng, senior director of Keysight’s wireless test group. “Keysight is playing a pivotal role in a connected mobile ecosystem in which our mmWave expertise, combined with highly scalable software-based 5G test solutions, is accelerating 5G innovation.”
