Excelsys CoolX600 convection cooled 600W power supplies now feature PMBus Communication

Excelsys Technologies, the leading manufacturer of modular user configurable and single output power supplies announces that its revolutionary CoolX600 Series of 600W convection-cooled modular power supplies is now available with the option of PMBus communication.

PMBus offers system builders a standard way to communicate with power converters over a digital communications bus by providing a full set of commands and data structures required by power control and management components. The CoolX Series PMBus interface facilitates the communication of operating parameters such as output voltage, output current and internal temperature with other PMBus enabled devices. It also provides the remote adjustment of parameters such as output voltage level, current limit as well as control features such as power supply and individual output enable/inhibit.

The convection-cooled CoolX600 Series is the latest user configurable modular power supply from Excelsys Technologies which delivers an incredible 600W without fan assisted cooling from a very compact 8.5 x 4.5 x 1Upackage. The only fanless modular power supply on the market, the CoolX600 offers system designers best in class performance for efficiency and reliability in addition to the most comprehensive feature set and specifications available. Typical efficiency is greater than 93% and due to its excellent thermal performance offers typically 25% longer lifetime than competitors. An industry leading 5 year warranty ensures quality, reliability and the lowest total cost of ownership.

Enhanced thermal performance may be obtained with system fans or additional external conduction cooling resulting in even higher system reliability, Other features include 4KV input surge immunity, and the ability to withstand input voltages of up to 300VAC making it ideal for use in remote locations and those subject to input voltage disturbances. Additional features include SEMI F47 compliance, and operation at 5000m altitude. A 25W standby power output, offering effectively another output, for system intelligence, cooling fans, displays etc. is a standard feature.

The CoolX600 is available with full safety certifications to UL/EN60950 and UL/EN60601 3rd and 4th Edition (EMC) for both industrial and medical applications. Stand-out medical features include BF rating (Body Floating), dual fusing, 2 x MOPP, <300uA leakage current.

The CoolX600 can be populated with up to 4 CoolMods, providing up to 4 isolated DC outputs ranging from 3.0V to 58.0V. Following the tradition of Excelsys, the CoolX600 offers customers the greatest flexibility and is completely user and field configurable. Outputs can be configured to the required set point voltages and connected in parallel of series for higher output current and/or higher output voltages.

The Excelsys CoolX600 offers system integrators unparalled flexibility with analogue and digital management with PMBus monitoring and control capability and is user field configurable with Plug and Play power. All outputs are isolated and may be connected in series or parallel to achieve higher output voltages or currents. Mounting options include base, side and Din Rail alternatives

Dermot Flynn, Sales Director of Excelsys Technologies, comments, “Adding PMBus communication to the already exceptional CoolX power supply allows medical, industrial and defence systems developers the option of deploying intelligent 600 watt, high reliability, silent in operation power solution. Our revolutionary designs and feature sets continues to keep us ahead of our competitors.”

Typical applications include medical clinical diagnostic equipment, medical lasers, dialysis equipment, radiological imaging and clinical chemistry. Industrial test and measurement, industrial machines, automation equipment, printing, telecommunications, audio equipment and high reliability harsh industrial electronics, radar, (Naval, Ground Based), communications, test and measurement

Other products in the Excelsys range include the UltiMod and Xgen user configurable modular power supplies suitable of applications including, industrial, medical, laser, communications, IT, wafer fabrication, optical inspection, wire bonding, and automated test equipment.
