Cobham Introduces New 8800SX Digital Land Mobile Radio Test Set

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Cobham has introduced the new 8800SX Digital Radio Test Set for testing Land Mobile Radio systems. The 8800SX features new software for testing a wide variety of Motorola and other OEM radio systems and also features a new external 10 MHz reference designed to ensure that Land Mobile Radio end users have the best equipment to ensure their radio equipment is operating at the highest standard. The 8800SX has been reviewed and approved by Motorola for maintaining all Motorola technologies including GTR8000 P25 Phase 2 and LSM systems.

Cobham introduced the new product as part of its exhibition at the International Wireless Communications Expo 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We are pleased to have the 8800SX as part of Motorola’s approved equipment list,” said Rob Barden, Director of Product Marketing at Cobham AvComm. “The 8800SX is the newest variant of the highly successful 8800 Series family and features extensive test features designed to provide automated test and alignment, antenna and cable tests and advanced digital LMR radio analysis for a wide range of analog and digital radio systems manufactured by many LMR radio equipment suppliers.”

The 8800SX supports MOTOTRBO™ (DMR), P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 Systems, NXDN™, dPMR™, and Positive Train Control Radios. The addition of the 10 MHz external reference port provides extremely accurate RF frequency measurements. The 8800SX also features a wide range of Auto-Test functionality for Motorola and other OEM radios as well as the new DMR repeater test option that provides the synchronized transmitter protocol messaging to activate a DMR repeater base station without the need for special control software for parametric testing.
