BioConnected Licenses Valencell’s PerformTek® Sensor Technology to Bring Next-Gen “Smart” Earphones to Market

RALEIGH, N.C. and SYDNEYFeb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Valencell, the leading innovator in wearable biometric data sensor technology, and BioConnected, experts in health and fitness biometrics specializing in the development of biometric measuring software and integrated in-ear wireless hardware solutions for the rapidly expanding mobile fitness and health market, today announced the licensing of Valencell’s PerformTek® technology to BioConnected for the development of its HR-SENSE all-in-one advanced Bluetooth wireless biometric training earphones.

The new HR-SENSE earphones will enable the end-user to exercise and train with real-time intelligent voice coaching and fitness monitoring. The device will be tightly coupled with intuitive post-session biometric analytics tracking both current and past exercise sessions, guiding users to improve fitness levels and train smarter with unmatched accuracy.

The BioConnected HR-SENSE biometric earphones incorporate Valencell’s patented PerformTek biometric measurement technology, which enables an end-user to monitor multiple personal biometrics such as: heart rate, distance, pace, speed, cadence, total steps, energy expenditure, net-fat burned, current time, time elapsed and elevation. Unique to the BioConnected HR-SENSE is the ability to assess and monitor Heart Fitness Age – a critical factor in determining overall body fitness. In addition to the biometric measurement capability and the highly intuitive BioConnected App, the BioConnected HR-SENSE Bluetooth wireless earphones deliver music and allow phone calls to be made and received during exercise sessions.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Valencell, the leader in wearable biometric sensor technology, to bring our HR-SENSE smart earphones to market,” said Sven Rees, Managing Director, BioConnected. “Valencell’s PerformTek technology is the gold standard in biometric accuracy for wearables. We know that by choosing Valencell we can be confident that the product will exceed user expectations, and enable an outstanding user experience.”

Valencell’s technology powers the biometrics in more wearable devices on the market today than any other technology provider. The accuracy of Valencell’s PerformTek technology has been independently validated by numerous research institutions, including Duke University, NC State University, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Licensing Valencell’s technology also gives BioConnected access to Valencell’s global ecosystem of manufacturing partners and Valencell’s Biometrics Lab, one of the most experienced biometrics labs in the world, for testing and validation of the HR-SENSE device.

The BioConnected HR-SENSE will launch in all major International markets this summer.
