Innovasic to Demonstrate TSN-ready Deterministic Ethernet at the 2016 Automotive Ethernet Congress in Munich

Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, January, 2016.  Innovasic, a leader in deterministic Ethernet semiconductor solutions, will demonstrate how time-critical control data can be effectively managed on an Ethernet network using technologies that are being adopted and evaluated by the IEEE standards association for 802.1 Time Sensitive Networking (TSN).

By using its fido5000 Real-time Ethernet Multiprotocol (REM) switch chip, Innovasic will demonstrate scheduled traffic (802.1Qbv), time synchronization (802.1AS-Rev) and ingress policing (802.1Qci).  These capabilities enable deterministic control of critical data packets, even in the presence of very high levels of non-critical traffic.  The fido5000 chip is unique in having a programmable architecture with the necessary hardware in place to support the new TSN standards as well as existing AVB standards. The programmable architecture is important as it allows users of the chip to adapt to specification changes as the TSN standards evolve and are finalized.  In addition to the features being demonstrated, Innovasic’s device also supports pre-emption (802.1Qbu) and redundancy (802.1CB).

“What we are showing is an “on-ramp” to full Deterministic Ethernet technology that developers can access now”, says Jordon Woods, Innovasic’s CTO.  “The programmability of this platform allows OEMs and Tier 1s to evaluate how the features of the new TSN standards may be used to add value to their ECUs and system architectures”, Woods continues.

The use of the new IEEE 802.1 TSN standards, in conjunction with new 802.3 PHY standards, is expected to enable widespread adoption of Ethernet within the car both as a network backbone as well as to replace legacy serial connections.  The widespread use of Ethernet in the car can greatly reduce the cost and weight of the wiring harness and also enable easier connectivity options for the connected car and autonomous vehicles.  Please visit us at www.deterministicethernet.com for more information.

Innovasic will show this live demonstration at its booth at the 2016 Automotive Ethernet Congress in Munich on February 3rd and 4th.

Achieve Greater Design Flexibility and Reduce Costs with Chiplets

Sponsored by Keysight

Chiplets are a new way to build a system-on-chips (SoCs) to improve yields and reduce costs. It partitions the chip into discrete elements and connects them with a standardized interface, enabling designers to meet performance, efficiency, power, size, and cost challenges in the 5 / 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) era. This white paper will discuss the shift to chiplet adoption and Keysight EDA's implementation of the communication standard (UCIe) into the Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS).
