Green Hills Software speaker presentations include:
An Army of Malware-Infected Toasters: Risk and the Internet of Things
When: Tuesday, June 23, 12:00 PM, 1 hour
Where: 204 – Level 2
Who: Thomas Cantrell, Architect, IoT & Networking Technology
This talk brings together a perspective synthesized from the embedded community, the security community, and the business community for the prudent manufacturer seeking the right balance of security for their connected device based on QorIQ, i.MX or Kinetis. In this lively presentation, an unlikely home appliance — a smart toaster — becomes a surprisingly suitable device for thinking through the risks, tradeoffs and solutions on the path to right level of security to meet business objectives.
The New ARMv8-A Architecture – 64-bit at Your Doorstep
When: Wednesday, June 24, 11:00 AM, 1 hour
Where: 202 – Level 2
Who: Joe Fabbre, Director of Platform Solutions
The new ARMv8-A architecture from ARM Ltd. will explode into a diverse set of embedded markets demanding power-wise high-performance including automotive cockpit, networking, high-performance data computing and data center. Freescale’s own QorIQ, i.MX and S32V families are no exception. From its experience working closely with ARM Ltd. and as the first supplier of RTOS and development tools for the ARMv8, Green Hills will share insights into the new features of the architecture from a software perspective, and outline their experience, tips and tricks for system engineers and software developers planning projects on the new architecture
Advanced Compiler Optimizations for ARM Targets
When: Wednesday, June 24, 4:45PM, 1 hour
Where: Griffin Exhibition Hall 4 – Level 2
Who: Greg Davis, Director of Engineering
Embedded software developers are concerned with their software at multiple levels. Because the vast majority of code is written in high-level languages, the translation process between high-level languages and machine assembly code, known as compilation, is crucial. Compiler technology has not yet run its course, and new cutting-edge optimizations have made enormous execution and code size savings. This talk will survey some favorite optimizations: some are old, but highly effective, while others are virtually unknown outside of the community of compiler developers.
Taming System Complexity
When: Wednesday, June 24, 5:45PM, 1 hour
Where: Griffin Exhibition Hall 4 – Level 2
Who: Joe Fabbre, Director of Platform Solutions
Embedded system complexity is growing at a staggering rate and there are no indications that this trend will change any time soon. Complexity is to blame for schedule delays, product quality issues, and ultimately lost revenue due to these and a host of other related factors. In this talk we’ll examine techniques for dealing with rising system complexity and a strategy for taming the beast.
On the show floor (booth 340-343), Green Hills will offer the following demonstrations on four different workstations:
• MULTI — Advanced Debugging for Linux
This demonstration shows how developers in the embedded Linux world can dramatically improve debugging productivity by using the powerful MULTI® IDE and Green Hills Probe for source-level debugging of the kernel, boot loaders, applications and device drivers.
• OpenGL Graphics For i.MX6 Devices
Widespread support for the INTEGRITY® RTOS from industry-leading graphics suppliers provides a rich selection of choices when creating next-generation automotive, medical, building automation, industrial and avionics systems on the leading embedded processors. The combination of high performance OpenGL and OpenVG stacks with the safe, secure and real-time INTEGRITY separation kernel allows creation of robust, GUI-based devices. Highlighted partner solutions include Altia, Crank Software, DiSTI and Rightware.
• End-to-End Security for Embedded Devices
The ISS Embedded Cryptographic Toolkits (ECT) are the foundation of device security with comprehensive, flexible and platform-agnostic security protocols and FIPS 140-2 compliant, Suite B, cryptographic algorithm library for the protection of device software, data, and communication.
Safely share keys with your supply chain using the ISS Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) system. An enterprise key management infrastructure required for embedded security, DLM uses industry-recognized standards for the high-assurance management of keys and cryptographic operations across distributed environments.
• Safety-Critical Solutions for Automotive Software
Green Hills offers the industry’s most comprehensive and trusted run-time and development tools solutions for automotive systems built on Freescale 32-bit and 64-bit processors, including i.MX, Qorivva, Kinetis, Vybrid and S32V. Functional safety certifications have been earned at the highest levels including ISO 26262 ASIL D and IEC 61508 SIL 4.
On Freescale’s Internet of Tomorrow Tour (IoTT), Green Hills will demonstrate technology that delivers safety and security—from IoT point-of-sale and edge devices to automotive dashboards—on board a three-story big rig trailer (Truck will be parked on Brazos Street at the rear of the JW Marriott).
• Securing devices in the IoT
Running on a Freescale i.MX6-based point-of-sale reference platform this demonstration shows how the certified security policies of INTEGRITY defeat RAM scraper malware recently used in credit card breaches at several major US retailers.
• High Performance, Safety-Certified Digital Instrument Cluster
A high performance digital instrument cluster based on the Freescale i.MX6 processor running a safety-critical HMI built with DiSTI’s GL Studio SC (Safety Critical) product.
• Streaming Media for Automotive Infotainment
The powerful Cinemo Media Engine™ with its embedded multimedia player supporting all popular disc, audio and video file formats, is integrated and optimized for the INTEGRITY RTOS, running on the Freescale i.MX6 automotive-focused board.
• Secure Remote Management of Critical IoT Devices
Web connectivity, secure communications, and machine-to-machine (M2M) management are featured in this demonstration running the security-certified INTEGRITY RTOS and Embedded Cryptographic Toolkit combined with the hardware-accelerated cryptography of the Freescale C29X Crypto Coprocessor.
