Express Logic X-Ware Platform Supports AndesCore™ Development Platforms

San Diego, CA, May 13, 2015—Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOSes), has expanded its support for X-Ware Platform to include the AndesCore™ Development Platforms. The X-Ware platform is Express Logic’s integrated run-time software that combines all X-Ware components (ThreadX®, NetX™, USBX™, FileX®, GUIX™, and TraceX®) pre-ported and fully integrated for use on specific development boards. The X-Ware Platform helps developers avoid the significant development and integration work ordinarily associated with the use of generic software products on a specific board.

“The Express Logic X-Ware platform aligns perfectly with our efforts to provide quality products that help developers get to market faster,” said Dr. Charlie Hong-Men Su, Chief Technical Officer, Andes Technology Corp. “The X-Ware Platform helps us to accelerate our market leadership in the cost-effective and performance-efficient CPU cores market. We can now provide our customers with an integrated software solution, enabling them to focus on optimizing their product designs instead of having to spend valuable engineering time selecting, integrating, and fine-tuning the various components incorporated into their products.”

X-Ware Platform goes well beyond the board-support package (BSP) and peripheral drivers supplied by each board manufacturer, seamlessly integrating those drivers with Express Logic’s X-Ware products and enabling each driver to operate fully on that manufacturer’s board. To facilitate immediate development, Express Logic also resolves any conflicts associated with the use of multiple X-Ware products simultaneously— a job that most vendors ordinarily leave to developers.

Since its original release in 1996, Express Logic ThreadX RTOS has been deployed in more than 2 billion electronic products, many of which operate within the IoT. Over the years, Express Logic has complemented ThreadX with a file system, IPv4/IPv6 networking, USB, and graphics support, as well as new tools for system trace and optimization. X-Ware Platform is part of Express Logic’s continuing aim to make IoT development easier, shorten time-to-market, and make its customers’ products as successful as possible.

“Before X-Ware Platform, time to market was stymied by component selection, driver development, product integration, and optimization across a multi-vendor platform,” noted William E. Lamie, President of Express Logic. “X-Ware Platform eliminates all of that. By knitting the entire RTOS, middleware, and IDE solution together in a board-specific reference platform that includes optimized drivers and BSP, Express Logic accelerates time to market. X Ware Platform enables developers to focus immediately on their proprietary product attributes and not waste time reinventing the wheel.”

In addition to the AndesCore Development Platform, X-Ware Platform is available for Renesas RZ/A1-based RSK board, Atmel SAMA5D3x-EK, STMicro STM324xG-Eval, and TI AM 335x Starter Kit with more than 15 reference projects for evaluation and product development. These projects illustrate the use of each X-Ware product individually as well as in combination with others. This ensures that IoT developers get a head start on incorporating features such as a graphical user interface with high-speed networking, USB, and file management within a real-time system.

Express Logic X-Ware Platform will be on display at Andes-EmbeddedTM Forum: May 14, 2015, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel, Andes demo booth, and May 19, 2015, Beijing, China, in Park Plaza Beijing Science Park, Express Logic booth.

Price And Availability

X-Ware Platform is licensed at prices starting at $12,500 with no per-unit royalties. Pre-license evaluation is easy and free. Reference projects can be downloaded and run on a developer’s hardware of choice, free of charge. Full source evaluation licenses are available free of charge from Express Logic.
