New COTS AC/DC Power Factor Correction Front End Module from Astrodyne Offers Compact Size, High Efficiency

Mansfield, Mass. – December 2014 – Astrodyne Corporation, a global developer and manufacturer of specialized power solutions, now offers a half-brick COTS AC/DC power module with an output voltage of 375 V. The PFC-375, part of Astrodyne’s UniVerter Series, offers high reliability in the most demanding applications.

Ideal for use in military and commercial aviation applications and other challenging thermal and shock vibration environments, this new base-plated, potted module features Astrodyne’s proprietary Insulated Metal Substrate (IMS) construction.

Astrodyne’s UniVerter modules use a boost converter that incorporates a solid state series switch for active inrush and short circuit current limiting, as well as a way to provide over temperature shutdown with automatic recovery.

Jerrold M Hornstein, director of business development for Astrodyne’s mil/aero market segment, said, “The PFC-375 offers high power factor, compliance with MIL STD 704 transient and MIL STD 461 and RTCA DO-160 total harmonic distortion requirements. It provides a smaller sized, lower power alternative to our ¾ brick, 650W, PFC-650 module while offering the same performance characteristics.”

This encapsulated 2.3” x 2.4” x 0.5” half brick power factor correction module has an input range of 85 to 265 VAC, a frequency range of 47 to 880 Hz and a power factor of 0.99.

The PFC-375 comes in RoHS compliant or SnPb solder versions and offers an operating temperature range of -55°C to +100°C.

Pricing for the PFC-375 starts at $350.72 per unit.  Delivery is 10-12 weeks ARO.
