PLDA Introduces XpressRICH4: The PCIe 4.0 Controller of Choice When Performance Matters

SAN JOSE, CA – November 25, 2014 – PLDA, the company that designs and sells intellectual property (IP) cores and prototyping tools, has introduced XpressRICH4, a highly configurable PCIe 4.0 interface soft IP designed for ASIC implementations and seamless FPGA prototyping implementations.Building on PLDA’s long history of numerous tape-outs in leading-edge process technologies, XpressRICH4 includes advanced features such as single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) and data-path protection. The controller uses the latest generation of the PCIe specs, making it a perfect choice for enterprise-class applications requiring the highest performance, reliability, and flexibility.

“PCIe performance (16 GB/s) is required for emerging new technologies in markets such as storage, servers, test and measurement, and networking for big data applications. Because PCIe 4.0 doubles performance, maximum throughput is expected,” said Stephane Hauradou, CTO of PLDA. “XpressRICH4 is one of the first PCIe controllers on the market to provide PCIe 4.0 performance. Early adopters are using it for projects such as TSMC silicon target 16nm FinFET designs and 28nm roadmap designs.”

PLDA has over 18 years of experience in the design of IP cores for ASIC and FPGA design, specializing in high-speed interface protocols and technologies, with a specific focus on PCIe. Over 5,700 customers have used PLDA cores for several hundred ASIC and FPGA tapeouts.  This rich history, along with acclaimed 24/7 global support, has made possible early delivery of a PCIe 4.0 product with the flexibility of the PHY and foundry interoperability. PLDA’s PCIe products are integrated in various ongoing projects with multiple 16 GB PHYs.

XpressRICH4 offers:

  • Support for endpoint, root port, switch and bridge at 16 GB/s per lane. SR-IOV, empowering faster virtualization
  • Data protection (ECC, ECRC), a must-have for storage applications.
  • Pipe configurations of 16-bit, 32-bit, and 64-bit for maximum flexibility and multiPHY compliance.
