INVEA-TECH Presents FPGA Adapters for 40G and 100G Ethernet

INVEA-TECH extends its portfolio of successful products for 10G traffic processing with a new generation of adapters supporting 40G and 100G Ethernet technologies. The progress enables to deploy solutions based on these adapters in the latest high-speed networks and efficiently process traffic using hardware acceleration. The adapters thanks to their advanced features for traffic filtering, monitoring and generating can be used in broad spectrum of applications.

Increasing demands on throughput of high-speed network appliances and backbone links very often drives replacement of physical infrastructure with a new one using more advanced technologies. Nowadays, 10G Ethernet is being replaced with 40G and 100G Ethernet.

Petr Kaštovský, FPGA product manager, commented the situation as follows: “Availability of 40G and 100G Ethernet affects mainly companies using or producing solutions for high-speed network traffic processing. For these companies, it is a matter of life and death to react fast enough and innovate their infrastructure and/or products so that they would support these new technologies. That is why INVEA-TECH puts eminent effort into developing state-of-the-art network adapters and applications for 40G and 100G Ethernet, which are now available. That allows our customers to be ahead of the game and succeed in the high-speed networking market.”

The most distinctive benefit of INVEA-TECH adapters is the ability to process traffic at wire-speed and flexibility that enables their deployment in many application areas. The ability to distribute network traffic over multiple CPU cores, filter it and generate test traffic makes the adapters ideal for packet capture solutions, lawful interception applications, IDS/IPS systems, network testers and more. Technologies and adapters were developed in cooperation with CESNET within the Alfa programme of TACR (Technological Agency of the Czech Republic). Furthermore, long-time experience of both INVEA-TECH and CESNET with FPGA technology and high-speed networks guarantees high-quality results.

The most important features of INVEA-TECH appliances are summarized in the following points:

  • Support of 40G and 100G Ethernet technologies
  • Use of the latest high-performance Xilinx Virtex 7 FPGA chips
  • Traffic processing on commodity multicore CPUs
  • PCI Express Gen 3 bus allowing to transfer all 40G/100G traffic to host memory
  • Lossless wire-speed traffic processing regardless of the packets’ length
  • Available applications that provide useful and sophisticated features
  • Adapters and appliances can be used in many scenarios ranging from packet capture solutions to hardware accelerated lawful interception solutions
