InvenSense® Introduces the World’s Lowest Power 9-Axis MotionTracking Device

SUNNYVALE, California, February 25, 2013 – InvenSense, Inc. (NYSE: INVN), the leading provider of MotionTracking™ devices, announced its third generation 9-axis MotionTracking device with the lowest power and best-in-class performance. The world’s smallest 9-axis solution, the MPU-9350 combines an accelerometer, gyroscope, and electronic compass into a 3x3x1mm QFN package. At 6.7mW, the MPU-9350 has 28% lower power consumption than its predecessor and comes with the industry’s only integrated Digital Motion Processor™ (DMP). The DMP, together with an embedded FIFO, offloads high-frequency motion algorithm computation from the host application processor, reducing interrupts and host MIPS cycles to improve overall system power and performance.

“MPU-9350 offers the lowest power 9-axis motion sensing device on the market, with nearly 50% lower power than the nearest competitor,” said Ali Foughi, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at InvenSense. “In addition, the compass dynamic range is 4x better than our closest competitor. The wider dynamic range allows greater flexibility for customers to overcome compass placement challenges in the end application. The superior performance of the MPU-9350 will accelerate adoption of our integrated 9-axis solutions in the market.”

The MPU-9350 incorporates InvenSense’s industry leading MPU-6500 and a state-of-the-art compass. It provides gyroscope full-scale range of ±250dps to ±2000dps and accelerometer full-scale range of ±2g to ±16g. With low gyroscope output noise of only 0.1 dps-rms, the MPU-9350 includes high resolution 16-bit analog-to-digital converters, programmable digital filters, the industry’s lowest 9-axis current consumption of only 3.7mA fully active, and an embedded temperature sensor. The compass has a resolution of 16-bits, and a full scale measurement range of ±4800µT. This platform also includes production-proven MotionApps™ software featuring 9-axis calibration and MotionFusion™ firmware, and is fully compliant with Google’s latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows RT releases.

The MPU-9350 is sampling to selected customers in Q2 2013. For more information please visit our website at www.invensense.com or contact InvenSense Sales at sales@invensense.com
