Agilent Technologies Introduces Industry’s Most Comprehensive Compliance Testing for Energy-Efficient Ethernet Standards

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 14, 2013 – Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced compliance testing support for Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standards used in networking applications. Agilent’s solution for transmitter tests includes 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T and 1000BASE-T EEE test standards as described in the IEEE 802.3az-2010 specification.

Growing consumer demand for energy-saving network devices has driven the need for more network testing. EEE technology allows devices such as routers, switches and servers to conserve energy by limiting the power of the network PHY transmitter.

The Agilent N5392B Energy-Efficient Ethernet compliance application provides an automated test script that allows engineers to quickly and reliably test EEE signals. The compliance application can be automated to run over extended periods, and it allows engineers to add incremental user-defined tests. Wilder Technologies, an Agilent partner that specializes in high-signal-integrity test fixtures, provides an EEE test fixture that can be used with Agilent’s EEE compliance application.

Additional information about Agilent’s N5392B EEE compliance application can be found at www.agilent.com/find/EEE. Compliance application screen images are available at www.agilent.com/find/EEE_images.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent N5392B EEE compliance application is priced at $6,500, and it includes support for EEE as well as other Ethernet standards. Customers who already own Agilent’s N5392A Ethernet compliance solution can add support for EEE by using the N5392B EEE upgrade for $1,680. The application is compatible with all currently shipping Infiniium real-time oscilloscopes that have 1 GHz or more of bandwidth.=
