Russian Software Vendor Excelsior Raising Money for Charity by Giving Away Its Flagship Product, Excelsior JET

NOVOSIBIRSK, Russia, Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Excelsior LLC, a well-established vendor of compliant Java technology implementations, hopes to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. From now until the end of the year, a basic, unsupported version of the company’s Excelsior JET software is on sale for $10, with 100% of the proceeds going to Gift of Life. Excelsior hopes to raise at least $1,000 through this experiment, which may be extended past the current timeframe if the results are positive. Learn more about this remarkable offer at http://www.excelsiorjet.com/charity.

Gift of Life provides hands-on care and treatment to young people whose families cannot afford typical cancer treatments. Each year, about 5,000 people under the age of 18 are diagnosed with cancer or blood disease in Russia. Unfortunately, access to proper medical care is less than adequate in Russia and the former Soviet Republics. Without early diagnosis and rapid, cutting-edge treatment, the survival rate for childhood cancer in this region hovers at only 70%, which is lower than most other industrialized nations. In addition to patient care, Gift of Life also works with politicians and activists to campaign for improved medical facilities and a better social safety net for those living in poverty.

This limited-time offer of Excelsior JET does not include traditional technical support. As Dmitry Leskov, Excelsior’s Director of Marketing, explains, “We want people to enjoy using our product. Users who opt for the $10 edition will receive all of the public updates to the platform. The only limitation is that direct responses to support requests will not be the highest priority. However, our community forum is full of fellow developers who are always willing to offer insight and suggestions.”

Developers who choose Excelsior JET between now and the end of the year will not only be contributing to a noble cause, but will also be getting a powerful development platform at an incredible price point – virtually nothing, when compared to normal price. Standard licenses (with support) for the Windows version of Excelsior JET are $1,200 per user. A Windows plus Linux bundle with standard support is available for $3,000 per user.

Excelsior believes in the power of technology to change the lives of people. Through this special offer, Excelsior has given the community of developers a tangible opportunity to save lives and reduce the burden of illness on poor families in Russia.
