IAR Systems significantly improves development tools for Renesas R32C and 78K microcontrollers

Renesas DevCon, Orange County, California—October 22, 2012—IAR Systems® today announced new user-friendly functionality in its development tools for Renesas Electronics Corporation’s R32C and 78K microcontrollers. The updates include a new editor and source browser, which enables features such as auto-completion, code folding, block selection, block indentation, bracket matching, and zooming.

The latest version of IAR Embedded Workbench® for R32C also adds integration with the version control system Subversion. The integration allows users to perform Subversion commands from within the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE, and to see the current status of project files and folders. The availability of integrated version control systems within the IDE can greatly simplify the development process by enabling developers to share files in a project and keep track of source code versions.

IAR Systems is the tool vendor of choice for many Renesas developers. In total, the company’s development tools support more than 4,000 Renesas devices. By offering high-class tools for the entire line-up of Renesas microcontroller families, IAR Systems proves its commitment to supply world-leading tools for developers working with the wide range of microcontrollers available from Renesas. By standardizing on IAR Embedded Workbench, IAR Systems’ customers are able to reuse code across projects, reduce costs for training, maintenance, and managing of licenses and vastly improve efficiency and time to market for new products. It also simplifies migration when moving between different product families.

For the extensive 78K family, IAR Embedded Workbench offers full support for 78K0, 78K0S and 78K0R products. IAR Embedded Workbench for R32C provides full support for devices in the series. The comprehensive support offered by IAR Embedded Workbench also includes the SH, V850, M16C, R8C, RL78 and RX families, as well as the upcoming RH850 microcontrollers for automotive applications.

Included with both releases is a new C-SPY® Debugging Guide, in addition to a new licensing management system that adds such features as commuter licenses, automatic license activation and support for virtual servers.

IAR Embedded Workbench is a complete set of development tools for embedded applications. It features a powerful C/C++ compiler and comprehensive debugger in a user-friendly integrated development environment (IDE).

Free evaluation licenses of the following new versions of IAR Embedded Workbench will soon be available for download:
