element14 partners with Texas Instruments, Würth Elektronik and Cadsoft to speed the integration of wireless power solutions into consumer electronics designs

LONDON – 17 SEPTEMBER 2012 – element14, the first collaborative community and electronics store for design engineers and electronics enthusiasts and a part of global electronics distributor Premier Farnell[LON:PFL], today announced the launch of a new wireless power microsite in partnership with Texas Instruments, Würth Electronics and Cadsoft EAGLE PCB software to help accelerate the integration of wireless power solutions in applications such as the latest smart phones, digital cameras and MP3 players.

With today’s portable devices demanding an increasing amount of power, and higher-power batteries requiring more advanced control systems, engineers must now consider a number of safety risks in new and existing designs. Qi-compliant contact-less charging, not only meets Wireless Power Consortium specifications, it is an option for any device that is powered by a USB or 5V/19V DC adapters.

Engineers can learn about these solutions by registering for an informative free webinar entitled, “Charging Innovation – Cut the Cord’. Presented by experts from TI, Würth and Cadsoft, the webinar on September 20, 2012 at 3pm GMT (9am CDT) will cover Qi standards and TI’s bqTESLA solutions, an overview of wireless power reference designs and corresponding charging-coils from Würth, and a demo of how to work with libraries in CadSoft EAGLE software. A live Q&A will follow.

This microsite also hosts a product RoadTest that will provide selected design engineers with transmitter manager and receiver solutions from TI and Würth plus EAGLE V6 software, at no cost. Those chosen as “RoadTesters” are then asked to post their product evaluations at element14 to benefit their colleagues in the community.
