Xilinx Showcases Secure Products and Applications at MILCOM 2011

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 3, 2011 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced participation at MILCOM 2011in Baltimore, from November 7-10, at the Baltimore Convention Center, Booth #914. Xilinx will show Android software running on the Zynq™-7000 EPP Emulation Platform, beam forming and digital pre-distortion (DPD) applications running on Virtex®-6 devices, as well as defense-grade and space-grade FPGAs.

What: MILCOM 2011

Where: Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Convention Center, Booth #914

When: Conference & Exhibits – November 7-10, 2011

Exhibition Demos

Monday – Thursday, November 7-10

Android Running on the Zynq-7000 EPP Emulation Platform

  • Xilinx will show a demonstration of the Zynq-7000 EPP Emulation Platform running the Android 2.2 operating environment.

Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD)

  • Xilinx will demonstrate a Virtex-6 FPGA running a DPD algorithm, which pre-distorts the modulation signal to a radio power amplifier (PA) such that it corrects for the natural distortion introduced by PA. Attendees will learn how pre-distortion allows the PA to be operated in a non-linear region of operation, which increases the PA power efficiency.

Beam Forming

  • Xilinx will also demonstrate a Virtex-6 FPGA running a beam forming algorithm, which shows how the beam forming application can enhance receive signals by combing phase and amplitude information from multiple antennas to reduce receive sensitivity. Xilinx will highlight how beam forming algorithms need FPGA logic for high bandwidth signal processing.

Defense-grade, Space-grade FPGAs

  • Xilinx will also show Virtex-4QV, Virtex-5QV, Virtex-6Q and Spartan®-6Q FPGAs and will highlight unique value propositions such as rad-hard by design, full temperature range testing, ruggedized packaging and anti-counterfeiting for reconfigurable devices.

Designing Robust 5G Power Amplifiers for the Real World

Sponsored by Keysight

Simulating 5G power amplifier (PA) designs at the component and system levels with authentic modulation and high-fidelity behavioral models increases predictability, lowers risk, and shrinks schedules. Simulation software enables multi-technology layout and multi-domain analysis, evaluating the impacts of 5G PA design choices while delivering accurate results in a single virtual workspace. This application note delves into how authentic modulation enhances predictability and performance in 5G millimeter-wave systems.
