ClioSoft Granted Patent for Universal Data Management Adaptor

FREMONT, Calif., September 13, 2011 – ClioSoft, Inc., developer of the premier hardware configuration management (HCM) solutions for the electronics design industry, has been granted a patent (US 7,975,247 B2) by the US Patent & Trademark Office for a “method and system for organizing data generated by electronic design automation tools.” Productized as ClioSoft’s Universal Data Management Adaptor ( UDMA), this technology allows designers to manage and version control design data from practically any electronic design automation (EDA) tool, at abstraction levels that designers use (such as libraries, cells and views).

UDMA is a rule-based technology that allows EDA administrators to quickly and easily define the relationship between design objects and the data files produced by a given design tool. Design data generated by EDA tools such as schematic or layout editors are varied and complex. Using UDMA rules, ClioSoft’s SOS design data management platform automatically recognizes and packages co-managed file sets into user-recognizable composite design objects.

“Our SOS platform is integrated seamlessly with several major design flows,” said Sriram Rajamanohar, architect of the UDMA technology. “But many design tools, commercially available or developed in-house, do not have support for design data management. Customers needed a feasible way to make sense of the vast number of tool-generated design files. By providing an easily-configurable solution that can be used to support any design tool that a team may adopt, UDMA ‘future proofs’ a design team’s data management needs.”

About ClioSoft:

ClioSoft is the premier developer of hardware configuration management (HCM) solutions. The company’s SOS Design Collaboration platform is built from the ground up to handle the requirements of hardware design flows. The SOS platform provides a sophisticated multi-site development environment that enables global team collaboration, design reuse, and efficient management of design data from concept through tape-out. Custom engineered adaptors seamlessly integrate SOS with leading design flows – Cadence’s Virtuoso® Custom IC, Synopsys’ Galaxy Custom Designer, Mentor’s IC flows, and SpringSoft’s Laker™ Custom Layout Automation System. ClioSoft’s innovative Universal DM Adaptor technology “future proofs” data management needs by ensuring that data from any flow can be meaningfully managed. The Visual Design Diff (VDD) engine enables designers to easily identify changes between two versions of a schematic or layout by graphically highlighting the differences directly in the editors. For additional information, please seewww.cliosoft.com.

Achieve Greater Design Flexibility and Reduce Costs with Chiplets

Sponsored by Keysight

Chiplets are a new way to build a system-on-chips (SoCs) to improve yields and reduce costs. It partitions the chip into discrete elements and connects them with a standardized interface, enabling designers to meet performance, efficiency, power, size, and cost challenges in the 5 / 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) era. This white paper will discuss the shift to chiplet adoption and Keysight EDA's implementation of the communication standard (UCIe) into the Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS).
