Tecnoroll Designs Spartan-6 FPGAs into New FLEXMod 3.0 Digital Video Broadcast Module

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 6, 2011 – Xilinx Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that longtime customer Tecnoroll BMB S.r.l. has designed Spartan®-6 FPGAs into its new FLEXMod 3.0 digital video broadcast module. Slated for announcement at IBC 2011 in Amsterdam, the compact, multi-standard modulation platform can be used as a standalone hardware platform or integrated into a customer’s end product for standard and high-definition broadcast applications, including video distribution systems and set top boxes.

Tecnoroll BMB S.r.l. is a design house that specializes in digital hardware and software solutions for broadcast and consumer applications.  The company has standardized on Xilinx Spartan and Virtex® FPGAs since its founding to design flexible, cost-effective modulators, MPEG-2 encoders and transport stream converters/re-multiplexers. Tecnoroll selected the Spartan-6 FPGAs for the company’s newest small form factor FLEXMod 3.0 module due their high-speed I/O performance, embedded hardware memory controllers, low power, and flexibility to support and adapt to multiple, rapidly evolving digital video standards.  For a demonstration of the new FlexMOD 3.0 module, go to Xilinx stand #10.D25 in Hall 10 at IBC 2011.

“Xilinx has been a key contributor to our success in bringing more than 20 products to market over the past 15 years,” said Lorenzo Bolla, President at Tecnoroll BMB S.r.1. “The company’s programmable devices are an excellent match for our strategy to deliver compact, modular, upgradeable solutions that speed time-to-market for our customers. We offer project scalability and customization in production volumes ranging from hundreds to hundreds of thousands. Based upon our proven track record with Xilinx, we also plan to adopt Artix™-7 and Kintex™-7 FPGAs for next-generation products slated for introduction in 2012.”

Traditional verification methods are failing today's complex IC designs, which require a proactive, early-stage analysis approach. A shift-left methodology addresses IP block integration challenges and the limitations of traditional simulation and ERC tools. Insight Analyzer detects hard-to-find leakage issues across power domains, enabling early analysis without full simulation. Identify inefficiencies earlier to reduce rework, improve reliability, and enhance power performance.
