Red Embedded offer High Speed FPGA/ASIC Design Resource

Founded in 2003 by a team of engineers highly experienced in developing volume Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE) since the dawn of digital TV, Red Embedded provides strategic, design and integration services to clients across a variety of technology sectors. The award-winning, Yorkshire-based company consults on CPE products for some of the world’s largest TV operators including DirecTV in the US and the UK’s BSkyB.

Having strengthened their design capability, Red Embedded can provide quick access to specialist skills, experience and infrastructure for a wide range of clients seeking to create products ranging from set top boxes, gateways and routers to professional equipment. This saves manufacturers time, investment in tooling and the cost of carrying expert teams that aren’t fully utilised.

Increasingly, designs require high levels of integration and performance that can only be met by the flexibility offered by FPGA and ASIC technology. The consultancy’s recent growth has led to a wealth of experience in this field, covering most available FPGA and ASIC tool chains and devices whilst complementing their existing capabilities in high-speed hardware design, DSP, real time and embedded software. Red Embedded is already engaged in a number of projects incorporating the design of professional equipment in the broadcast and medical diagnostic fields.

Red Embedded offer a flexible service, with deliverables ranging from a design block in VHDL or Verilog, delivering a FPGA or ASIC device into a board design or a fully integrated product. Advice to clients involved with high-level design and system partitioning is also provided, reducing the risk and costs associated with technology choice.

Says Andrew Stewart, MD for Red Embedded Consulting “I’ve seen several great teams of FPGA experts built up in different organisations, only to watch the accumulated knowledge and value be lost when the specific project or programme delivers and the team is let go.  It takes time and investment to build a top team. We’re now able to offer clients access to the best-in-class expertise whenever they need it”.

Red Embedded are promoting their High Speed FPGA/ASIC Design Resource at IBC 2011 on 9-11 September 2011.
