World Experts and Scholars Combat Cyber Security Attacks at NYIT Conference

Days after the country marks the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) will host its Cyber Security Conference to discuss cyber vulnerabilities and the latest measures to protect individuals and organizations against attacks. Topics include cloud computing, social networks, and mobile security, as well as new initiatives.

WHERE: NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, 1871 Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets in New York City.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Keynote Speakers

IBM’s Distinguished Engineer Jeff Crume will talk about how secure we are and how to identify management and social networking threats.

Kevin O’Connell, president and CEO of Innovative Analytics and Training, will give his presentation, “Cyberspace and Advanced Persistent Threats.”

Expert Presentations

  • Protecting New York State’s Citizens and Businesses against Cyber Disasters by Thomas D. Smith, director of New York State Office of Cyber Security.
  • Protecting Intellectual Property on a Global Scale by Gerard Wissing (NYIT, B.S. ’85), J.D., COO of Global IP Group at SAP AG.
  • Protection of Wireless Communication Networks by Krishnan Sabnani, Ph.D., senior vice president in the Networking Research Laboratory at Alcatel-Lucent-Bell Labs.

WHY:

In the wake of 9/11, as America strengthens national security, cyber security issues are increasingly seen as a threat. There is a growing need to protect businesses, government agencies, and individuals against attacks on networks and public and personal information. Experts will discuss high-profile network breaches at the Pentagon, Citibank, and others, as well as check fraud, email phishing, and social media hacking. NYIT is educating individuals and organizations on ways to protect against such vulnerabilities. This fall, NYIT is launching a program in network security to teach students how to find and fight these risks.

Interview, photo, and visual opportunities can be arranged during the conference. Several experts are available before 9/11 and for other advance interviews. For press registration, contact Briana Samuels at 646.273.6022 or brianasamuels@nyit.edu. On-site Contact: 646.240.9158

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
