AMIMON Reaffirms Commitment to MIPS® Architecture with New Core License

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – June 28, 2011 – MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital home, networking and mobile applications, announced that WHDI™ founding member AMIMON, the market leader in wireless High Definition, licensed the MIPS32® M4K® processor core for development of its third-generation transmitter and receiver chips designed for the WHDI™ (Wireless Home Digital Interface™) standard.

AMIMON is a long-time MIPS licensee, having leveraged MIPS cores for its previous generation WHDI products. Numerous companies are developing products based on AMIMON’s MIPS-Based™ chipsets, which wirelessly deliver full uncompressed 1080p/60Hz HD video and audio content throughout the entire home, with no need for cables or installations.

AMIMON’s chips connect wirelessly between a broad range of video transmitting devices—including set-top boxes, PCs, game consoles and cameras—and display devices such as HDTVs. AMIMON’s WHDI technology connects any mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, to the TV to enable users to wirelessly mirror content from their mobile device and the TV. The technology has low power consumption for long battery life, and less than one millisecond of latency aimed at providing an excellent user experience in interactive real-time applications and games.
