SIE Computing Solutions Unveils New 3U CompactPCI Enclosure

Brockton, MA, November 8, 2010 – SIE Computing Solutions, Inc., a provider of rugged electronic systems for mission-critical and performance-critical embedded computing platforms deployed in harsh environments, today introduced a new 3U 7-slot CompactPCI benchtop chassis. This latest addition to the SIE 505 Series is a configurable enclosure solution for systems in embedded telecommunications, military, and test and measurement applications.  SIE will be showcasing the new 505 Series enclosure in Hall A6, Booth 514 at the Electronica 2010 show taking place this week in Munich from November 9-12.

The 505 Series 3U enclosure is a compact and lightweight aluminum system with front and rear slots to allow for a variety of configurations.  With support for AC or DC input and a pluggable positive pressure cooling scheme in the front, it is designed for engineering versatility and thermal reliability across a variety of embedded computing applications.  Backplane power-monitoring LEDS for CompactPCI voltages and a rear I/O with AC/DC switch and ESD jack are also integrated with NEBS compliance in mind.

Additional features include:

  • Size of 17” wide by 11.54” deep;
  • 19” EIA rack adapters for front/mid mount;
  • 7-slot 3U CompactPCI backplane, left justified CPU slot, coding keying for 5V operation;
  • All front and rear slots have extruded, EMI, 3U x 4hp filler panels;
    • Hot swap, N+1 350w front pluggable power supply support;
    • Tach alarm monitored fans to provide low MTTR and high reliability.

“SIE recognizes the increasing need for embedded computing solutions in smaller form factors across multiple architectures,” said Jessica Isquith, vice president of marketing at SIE Computing Solutions.  “This 3U addition to the well-received 505 Series offers developers and manufacturers in the military, telecom, and other industrial markets the ability to take advantage of CompactPCI for their applications in a more compact way for in-field, performance-critical deployments.”

The 505 Series 3U 7-slot enclosure is available now, with standard one-year limited warranty.  An extended warranty is also available.

Want early design analysis without simulation?

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Traditional verification methods are failing today's complex IC designs, which require a proactive, early-stage analysis approach. A shift-left methodology addresses IP block integration challenges and the limitations of traditional simulation and ERC tools. Insight Analyzer detects hard-to-find leakage issues across power domains, enabling early analysis without full simulation. Identify inefficiencies earlier to reduce rework, improve reliability, and enhance power performance.
