MAZeT presents simulation tools for optical measuring tasks

Jena (Germany), August 26, 2010 – MAZeT GmbH, development and manufacturing service provider for Opto-ASICs, spectral and color sensors, as well as embedded computing solutions, and located in Jena, Germany, offers a tool for the simulation of compact spectral-selective semiconductor sensors for precise inline measurements, available immediately. The system is simulated during the feasibility study using the tool developed by MAZeT and optimized accordingly to the requirements presented. The simulation software by MAZeT enables choosing the right sensor, as well as the optimal combination of filters and illumination, while in the preparatory phase to facilitate the best quality possible for the actual measurement. With the simulation application MAZeT provides different sensor models for color measurement to be able to cover a variety of precision requirements while specifically containing cost. Thus, the combination is simulated and optimized on the basis of radiometric calculation rules. The simulation tool is suitable for validating the requirements of new and existing applications. Some optimizations that are highlighted can be easily implemented, for example, swapping the sensor lighting used or choosing objects for calibration.

The sensor models of the simulation tool are suitable for simple teaching, RGB and XYZ sensors, absolute color measurement, XYZ and multi-range sensors, and even radiometric measurements with multi-range sensors. Regardless of the actual tasks, the best-possible combination of filter, illumination and the choice of the objects for calibration is required to achieve optimal accuracy. The spectral composition of the filters and lighting has the most significant impact on the quality of the measurement. The preliminary simulation eliminates the need for numerous optimization trials, for example, in selecting the best light source, while the system is still in development. In addition to the considerable time saving, the simulation also allows for estimates to be made with regard to whether or not the system requirements will be able to be met while still in the developmental phase.
