Microsoft Research uses Lyrtech SFF SDR development platform for experimental ‘white space’ device

Quebec City, Canada (August 24, 2010). Lyrtech Inc. (Lyrtech) (TSX-V: LTK), a worldwide leader in digital signal processing technologies and a Texas Instruments Elite Design House, is proud to announce that researchers at Microsoft have been successful in developing an experimental ‘white space’ device using Lyrtech’s SFF SDR development platform. The details of this project are described in the scientific paper titled Rethinking Indoor Wireless Mesh Design: Low Power, Low Frequency, Full-duplex available from research.microsoft.com/en-us/people/bozidar/all_pubs.aspx.

‘White space’ development aims to implement FCC-compliant protocols and devices for unlicensed use in the recently liberated upper-TV-channel bands (512–698 MHz, channels 21–51).

The SFF SDR development platform is the world’s leading embedded SDR development platform. Its RF tunability and signal processing capabilities have made it the platform of choice for Microsoft Research.

“We are pleased to see our SFF SDR development platform showcased this way in the ‘white space’ development arena. Our platform is ideal in terms of flexibility for this type of SDR-oriented and ground-breaking research,” said Louis Bélanger, president and chief executive officer of Lyrtech.

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
