JTAG Technologies to Present New Approaches to Boundary-Scan at DAC Show, Anaheim, booth 254, June 15th to 17th.

Eindhoven, the Netherlands, June 2010,  – JTAG Technologies is introducing at DAC show in Anaheim a new approach to supplying tools for debugging boards with a mix of free and paid for products targeted at different aspects of the debugging process.

JTAG Live is for electronics engineers and technicians to use in checking PCBs for basic continuity and correct operation. The family consists of three products, Buzz, Clip, and Script.

And to keep start-up costs down, to connect to the board, JTAG Live is compatible with the popular JTAG programming cables from Altera and Xilinx, as well as with the two-port USB Explorer from JTAG Technologies.

Buzz provides the ability to check quickly (direct and indirect) connections between devices supporting boundary-scan while Clip offers ways to verify cluster logic using vector-based cluster tests; and Script enables users to adopt a functional, device-oriented test approach to take control of a design through on-board JTAG/boundary-scan compliant devices.

Buzz is available free of charge from the JTAG Live website. Clip and Script are also available for download, but for a nominal charge.

JTAG Technologies will also demonstrate – JTAG ProVision™  – Now With Added ‘Buzz’ Class leading boundary-scan tool adds simple continuity test feature.

JTAG ProVision first released in 2006 uses a unique project database structure, automatically analysing the boundary-scan and non-boundary-scan elements of a design to create rapidly a full set of tests and in-system programming applications.

The new Buzz module allows a user, with minimal design information, to quickly check the continuity between two or more pins. Using an intuitive user interface the user can quickly drag and drop pins into a continuity test panel within the user interface and ‘Buzz-out’ a connection as you might traditionally do with a DMM. A new ‘Watch’ feature uses the JTAG SAMPLE instruction to monitor asynchronously the activity of a selected pin without disturbing the operation of the UUT.

JTAG Technologies is also showing advances in the boundary-scan tool arena with the latest release of its development and hardware debug tool, JTAG ProVisionT V1.8, that features on the latest tools CD (release 16 – May 2010).

Widely acknowledged as the World’s leading development tool for all boundary-scan applications, ProVision combines advanced automation with the level of control and precision that engineers demand when creating test programs and in-system programming (ISP) routines for PLDs, FPGAs, flash memories, serial PROMs and other devices.

Enhancements to the ProVision version (V1.8) shipping on CD16:-

  • New pin-level ActiveTest – an interactive cluster test generator;
  • Enhanced NAND flash ISP program generator;
  • ‘Buzz’ – the quick and easy continuity test module for checking hidden open circuits;
  • Built-in test debug capabilities for Symphony supported In-Circuit Testers and Flying-Probe Testers;
  • Support for ‘private’ and seldom-used JTAG instructions with the JFT (Python) script routines;
  • Multi-board, and scan bridge support for JFT(Python) script routines; and
  • Expanded ProVision model library, now containing models for more than 7,500 non-boundary-scan device families, covering more than 78,000 different devices.

As with previous releases, JTAG ProVision remains fully compatible with the prior “Classic” development tools as well as with all of JTAG Technologies’ production systems. In addition, the latest version of JTAG ProVision is available free of charge to customers with valid maintenance contracts.
