Lime Micro partners with ASE Group to introduce a customized software defined radio chip for LimeSDR developers

London, UK, August 31st 2016 – Lime Micro has announced a manufacturing partnership for the LimeSDR product line with Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (TAIEX:2311) (NYSE:ASX), the leading provider of semiconductor packaging and testing services. As part of the agreement, all the LimeSDR boards pledged during the recent successful crowdfunding campaign and any boards bought up before the end of September, will have a customized ‘I backed LimeSDR on Crowd Supply’ logo on the recently released LMS7002M Lime chip.

The LimeSDR, recently successfully funded on the Crowd Supply https://www.crowdsupply.com/lime-micro/limesdr crowdfunding platform, is a low cost application-enabled software defined radio (SDR) platform that can be programmed to support virtually any type of wireless standard. From Wi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth through to cellular standards such as UMTS, LTE and GSM and to the emerging IoT communication protocols such as LoRa, the platform offers endless wireless connectivity opportunities.

Ebrahim Bushehri, CEO of Lime Micro said, “We are very excited to partner with ASE and to offer the customized chip for the LimeSDR boards that were pledged during the campaign. It is testament to the excitement generated by the LimeSDR that ASE have agreed to partner with Lime and facilitate a customised run. The LimeSDR has had the ambition right from the beginning to transform wireless connectivity and develop an open community backed model for innovation. The endorsement of the community has been a major step in achieving this goal.”

“We have been collaborating with Lime Micro on packaging and testing their innovative Field Programmable RF ICs over the past few years, and we see the success of the recent crowd campaign as an important step in democratizing wireless innovation,” said Jerry Chang, President of Sales, North America & Europe, ASE Group. He added, “We are pleased at being part of this initiative to bring transformative solutions to market and believe that technology partnerships such as this play a key role in delivering on the promise of an interconnected world.”

The limited edition ‘I backed LimeSDR on Crowd Supply’ boards can be purchased through Crowd Supply https://www.crowdsupply.com/lime-micro/limesdrup to September  30th.  Individual LimeSDR boards cost $289. Large 100-unit operator ‘bundles’ are also available through the campaign page as is a recently launched certification program.
