Amplicon introduces the new wide operating temperature ED3541 Ethernet Extender

Brighton, UK, 27th January 2016 – The Etherwan ED3541 is an industrial grade Ethernet extender that includes an extended wide operating temperature.

The new Etherwan ED3541 is a hardened, versatile, Ethernet extender built with industrial design in mind. The ED3541 features high shock and vibration resistance, electrical noise immunity and a wide operating temperature of -40°C – +75°C, all within a ruggedized aluminium housing. It can be configured as the local or remote extender meaning that spares provision can be kept to a single unit. This unit features plug-and-play installation and can use an existing copper twisted-pair infrastructure with a 0.5 mm (24 AWG) voice-grade copper wire. The ED3541 can deliver an outstanding 100Mbps of bandwidth at a distance of 300 meters and 1Mbps for long length installations at a huge distance of 2.6km.

Using layer 2 of the OSI model (data link layer), it will transparently pass any higher-layer protocols including VLAN tagging, multicast addressing and industrial fieldbus protocols such as MODBUS/TCP and PROFINET. So whether you need to connect to a substation, oil refinery, brewery or any industrial private-network, the ED3541 is the perfect solution.

Andrew Pook, Product Specialist for Data Communications at Amplicon commented: “The ED3541 has been designed to withstand the harshest of environments, meaning the application environment is one thing you do not have to worry about when it comes to drawing up your network plan”.
