Nordic Semiconductor is a Norwegian fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless communication technology that powers the Internet of Things (IoT). Nordic was established in 1983 and has more than 1000 employees across the globe. The company’s award-winning Bluetooth Low Energy solutions pioneered ultra-low power wireless, making them the global market leader. Their technology range was later supplemented by ANT+, Thread and Zigbee, and in 2018 they introduced low power, compact LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular IoT solutions to extend the penetration of the IoT. The Nordic portfolio was further complemented by Wi-Fi technology in 2021.
Chalk Talks Featuring Nordic Semiconductor
Enabling IoT with DECT NR+, the Non-Cellular 5G Standard
In the ever-expanding IoT market, there is a growing need for private, low cost networks. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Heidi Sollie from Nordic Semiconductor explore the details of DECT NR+, the world’s first non-cellular 5G technology standard. They investigate how this self-healing, decentralized, autonomous mesh network can help solve a variety of IoT connectivity issues and how Nordic is helping designers take advantage of DECT NR+ with their nRF91 System-in-Package family.
Bluetooth LE Audio
Bluetooth LE Audio is a prominent component in audio innovation today. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Finn Boetius from Nordic Semiconductor and Amelia Dalton discuss the what, where, and how of Bluetooth LE audio. They take a closer look at Bluetooth LE audio profiles, the architecture of Bluetooth LE audio and how you can get started using Bluetooth LE audio in your next design.
Power Profiler II
If you are working on a low-power IoT design, you are going to face power issues that can get quite complicated. Addressing these issues earlier in your design process can save you a lot of time, effort, and frustration. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton chats with Kristian Sæther from Nordic Semiconductor about the details of the new Nordic Power Profiler Kit II - including how it can measure actual current, help you configure the right design settings, and show you a visualized power profile for your next design.
Nordic Cellular IoT
Adding cellular connectivity to your IoT design is a complex undertaking, requiring a broad set of engineering skills and expertise. For most teams, this can pose a serious schedule challenge in getting products out the door. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton chats with Kristian Sæther of Nordic Semiconductor about the easiest path to IoT cellular connectivity with the Nordic nRF9160 low-power system-in-package solution.
