New Industrial 2.4GHz Wireless Transceiver now available from LPRS

LPRS, Europe’s leading manufacturer of short-range wireless devices, now offers the Circuit Design STD-503 2.4GHZ wireless transceiver for integrating into industrial equipment.

There is growing demand for industrial wireless connectivity and the STD-503 operates in the globally recognised 2.4GHZ band. Designed to be embedded into OEM equipment this compact radio transceiver module was developed for industrial applications that require stable and reliable operation.

To ensure reliable radio communication in the congested 2.4GHz ISM band the STD-503 uses highly noise resistant direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) modulation which improves transmission speed and provides a true diversity receiver function for preventing signal drop-out due to multi-path fading. This is accomplished by including two antennas facing different directions, a feature not available in many lower cost receivers. Circuit Design has developed its own ASIC to accomplish these features and to guarantee the long-term supply of key wireless components.

Measuring just 40x29x5.5mm the Circuit Design STD-503 is 50% smaller than earlier designs and in addition to retaining the same command control used for frequency channel switching in earlier models, channels may also be switched according to a pre-set channel plan. A maximum of 20 pre-set channels can be saved.

Barry Gillibrand, Managing Director of LPRS, comments, “We have a very long standing relationship with Circuit Design who are renowned for the reliability of their products. Operating in the 2.4GHZ band the new STD-503 transceiver complements our own, recently launched, eRIC  system-on-chip wireless transceiver which, as it operates at sub 1GHZ, can offer extended range where required.”

In addition to supplying Circuit Design products LPRS design and manufacture the highly successful eRIC and easyRadio Advanced (eRA) wireless modules in the UK, the full LPRS product range now includes; Raspberry Pi and Arduino Shield wireless platforms, antennas, wireless key fobs, a wide range of sensor products and the IQRF range of wireless mesh networking components for telemetry, industrial control and building automation.
