Avnet Electronics Marketing Introduces Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC 7Z100 Mini-Module Plus, the Ultimate System-on-Module

PHOENIX—March 20, 2014—Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today introduced the Xilinx® Zynq®-7000 All Programmable SoC Mini-Module Plus, a system-on-module (SOM) based on the Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC XC7Z100 device. The module is the newest addition to Avnet’s Mini-Module Plus Development System, which is a fully customizable modular platform comprised of a baseboard, FPGA/SoC module, power module, and optional FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC).

In addition to the Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC XC7http://eon.businesswire.com/news/eon/20140320005294/enZ100 device, the Zynq Mini-Module Plus features 1GB DDR3 SDRAM, Flash memory, a 10/100/1000 Ethernet PHY, a USB 2.0 OTG port, a microSD card socket, a USB-UART port, a system clock, eight Gigabit transceivers (MGTs) and 132 user I/O pins. The I/O pins can be configured as single-ended signals as well as differential low-voltage differential system (LVDS) pairs. The onboard 10/100/1000 Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports add networking capabilities, while the configurable I/O and the MGTs offer versatile interface options.

“Designers looking for an off-the-shelf, fully configurable, high-performance system on a module will find the Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC Mini-Module Plus from Avnet an ideal fit,” said Jim Beneke, vice president of global technical marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing. “By combining the SoC module with the Mini-Module Plus baseboard and Mini-Module Plus power module, designers can quickly prototype their design concept and then easily move the modules to a custom designed system for production.”

“The Zynq Mini-Module Plus packages all the necessary embedded processing functions onto a small footprint,” said Barrie Mullins, director of SoC product management and marketing for Xilinx. “The new Zynq-7000 7Z100 Mini-Module Plus is software and hardware compatible with the previously announced 7Z045 Mini-Module Plus, with enhanced DSP and programmable logic capability. The 7Z100 Mini-Module Plus provides customers with an out-of-the-box, production-ready module that should reduce their time to market and increase productivity.”

The Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC Mini-Module Plus complements the previously announced 7Z045 Mini-Module Plus (still available for $1,295), as well as the two Kintex™-7 FPGA Mini-Module Plus modules, which are based on the 7K325T and 7K410T FPGAs. A complete Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC 7Z100 MMP including Mini-Module Plus baseboard, Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC module, and Mini-Module Plus power module is offered for $2,295. Order entry is available now and will begin shipping in April. The 7Z100 MMP is also available in the module-only format for $1,495.
