Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas Celebrates 30-Year Anniversary with Micron Technology

PHOENIX— 1985 was a pivotal year for the memory market in the Americas. Seven of the nation’s leading semiconductor makers exited the DRAM business due to a drastic decline in prices for memory, leaving just a handful of competitors, including the relatively young Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MU). That same year, the stalwart Micron signed a distribution agreement with Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT). Today, Avnet and Micron, a leading provider of advanced memory solutions, are celebrating the 30th anniversary of that agreement.

“Memory is a foundational element of electronic devices for applications ranging from the Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile/smartphones to data centers, smart cars and more,” said Ed Smith, president, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Through the years, Avnet Electronics Marketing America and Micron have collaborated to provide customers with not only top-quality products and solution support, but a high-value sourcing experience that is efficient, reliable and cost effective.”

Avnet and Micron also work cooperatively to train engineers on design techniques to leverage next-generation memory technologies through programs like Avnet’s 2014/15 X-fest global technical seminar series.

“For more than 35 years, Micron has delivered state-of-the-art memory products by designing, developing, and manufacturing some of the world’s most advanced technologies. Over the last 30 years we’ve partnered with Avnet, helping our customers to innovate and win. We are very proud of our long-standing relationship with Avnet,” said Lorenzo Ponzanelli, Senior Director of Sales, Worldwide Distribution at Micron Technology. “Micron continues to collaborate with chipset vendors and valued distributors like Avnet to create innovative solutions for our customers.”

Electrical Connectors for Hermetically Sealed Applications
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Bel
Many hermetic chambers today require electrical pathways to provide internal equipment with power, data or signals, or to receive data and signals from equipment within the chamber. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Brad Taras from Cinch Connectivity Solutions explore the role that seals and connectors play in the performance of hermetic chambers. They examine the methodologies to determine hermetic seal leaks, the benefits of epoxy hermetic seals, and how Cinch Connectivity’s epoxy-based seals and hermetic connectors can add value to your next design.
