Syensqo enables next-generation high-voltage smartphone batteries

Innovative material enables safer, more powerful batteries for next-generation mobile devices

Syensqo announces the growing commercial adoption of its Energain® SA076 solution in advanced consumer electronics. The material supports next-generation lithium-ion batteries used in premium smartphones, helping them operate at higher voltages while maintaining safety and performance. Energain® SA076 is now used in lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) battery systems combined with silicon-carbon (Si-C) anodes operating above 4.53V, a key step forward for high-end mobile devices.

Energain® SA076 has reached a new level of industrial maturity, with multiple validated use cases across leading smartphone manufacturers, particularly in Asia. The solution is currently deployed in flagship devices and is expected to be further adopted in next-generation 4.55V mobile platforms scheduled for large-scale commercialization in 2026. Key markets include China, followed by Korea, Japan, Europe, and the United States.

The material plays a critical role in enabling the transition to silicon-anode battery systems by mitigating swelling challenges and enhancing overall safety. Depending on customer requirements and system design, SA076 is used at dosage levels ranging from 5% to 40%, providing flexibility while maintaining performance stability under demanding operating conditions.
