RS Components introduces two new series of RS Pro power converters

Delivering cost-effective and high-quality units, new ranges include compact and encapsulated AC/DC converters and medically-approved switch mode power supplies

LONDON, UK, 25 January, 2018 – RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, today announced a significant expansion of RS Pro power supplies ( https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=npi-dec2017-rsencap_uk&searchType=Offers&dr=N ) with two new ranges of compact chassis and PCB mounting power converters with three-year product warranty, targeting design engineers.

The first range features compact encapsulated AC/DC converter switch mode power supplies designed for chassis mounting. Offering low power consumption and safety isolation, the range provides high levels of reliability and a long working life. Delivering efficiency levels of up to 87%, a wide range of input/output voltages and power ratings are available including units with power values of 15W, 25W, 40W and 60W. These Class II double insulated power supplies can operate from either an 85-264 Vac input or a 100-370 Vdc input for the 15W to 40W types, whilst the 60W types have 90-264 Vac input or a 122-370 Vdc input.

All the units are RoHS certified and protected against output short circuit, over-current and over-voltage, as well as being certified to IEC/EN61000-4, CISPR22/EN55022, UL60950 and EN60950 standards. This means they are suitable for use in environments where there is a risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The second range consists of medically approved encapsulated PCB-mount switch mode power supplies. The units can handle 5W, 15W and 25W of power with efficiencies of up to 89% and low standby power consumption of less than 0.1W. These Class II double insulated power supplies can operate from either an 85-264 Vac input or a 100-370 Vdc input.

Primarily targeting medical applications, the units also feature reinforced insulation design, high isolation of up to 4000V AC, an operating temperature range of –40 to +70C, and a low leakage current of less than 100µA. Protection features include output short circuit, over-current and over-voltage, thereby ensuring the safety of both the system and patients. These units meet EN60601-1 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 (3rd edition, 2×MOPP) medical design standards.

Both of the RS Pro power supply ranges are now available from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
