RS Components expands RS Pro offering with range of current transformers

Targeting electrical power applications, cost-effective devices come in wide selection of case sizes and mounting options for electrical engineers

London, UK, 24 October, 2018 – RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global multi-channel distributor, has announced availability of a range of RS Pro current transformers, (https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=rspro_currenttransformers_0918_uk&searchType=Offers) which includes more than 100 devices available with highly competitive pricing.

These new RS Pro components target a very wide range of applications including process control, motor control, utility power monitoring, control panels, and in switchgear used in generators and electrical power distribution systems as well as in energy- and building-management systems.

Current transformers are widely used in a range of electrical power applications for the measurement and handling of AC currents. High circuit currents – or primary currents – are transformed to a significantly reduced secondary current, enabling connection to measurement and recording instruments. Current transformers will also isolate these instruments from high voltages in monitored circuits.

The range offers class 1 accuracy of 1% at rated current and covers devices with primary current handling from 5A up to 3000A. Key features of these new RS Pro square-type current-metering transformers include sealable terminal covers and availability of various case sizes and mounting options, including wall, cable, busbar and DIN-rail mounting. Meeting UL94V0 approvals, devices in the range come in moulded cases that are made from flame-retardant polycarbonate materials.

Shipping now in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, the RS Pro current transformers offer the RS Pro Seal of Approval, as they have been rigorously tested to meet demanding industry standards.
