Active OR’ing Controller from Diodes Incorporated Increases Maximum Voltage to 200V for High Reliability Power Systems

Plano, Texas – July 26, 2016 – Targeted at power systems that use redundancy to achieve high reliability in telecom, data center and server applications, the ZXGD3111N7 active OR-ing MOSFET controller from Diodes Incorporated increases performance with a 200V maximum drain voltage. This increase in VDRAIN from the previously announced 40V ZXGD3108N8 allows this latest device to address requirements in 48V common rail systems where the outputs of two or more power supplies are OR’ed together in order to provide redundancy.

In addition to its 200V rating, which is twice that of its competitors, the … Read More → "Active OR’ing Controller from Diodes Incorporated Increases Maximum Voltage to 200V for High Reliability Power Systems"

EU and Japan Expand Collaboration Targeting New-generation Smart Cities

GRENOBLE, France – July 26, 2016 – Following validation of its innovative smart-city tools that combine Internet of Things and cloud-computing technologies, the EU-Japan ClouT consortium will expand its goals and add cities and partners in the new BigClouT program. The expanded program will focus on distributed intelligence with edge-computing principles, big-data analytics capability and self-aware property.

ClouT’s European participation was coordinated by Leti, an institute of CEA Tech. The original project was the first collaboration jointly funded by the European Commission and NICT of Japan involving European and Japanese cities, companies and research institutes. It began in 2013 to develop … Read More → "EU and Japan Expand Collaboration Targeting New-generation Smart Cities"

Holst Centre and TNO showcase Spatial Atomic Layer Deposition for Flexible Electronics

A breakthrough materials processing technique devised by a Dutch research team could lead the way for a new generation of smart fabrics, wearable electronics, solar cells and flat-panel displays.

Many of these technologies work by sandwiching together layers of different materials, with some layers ten thousand times thinner than a sheet of paper (just a few nanometres).  Such thin layers can be laid down by a technique called atomic layer deposition (ALD), which is the subject of the new research by Holst Centre/TNO in the Netherlands. Improving how the thin layers are deposited is opening up … Read More → "Holst Centre and TNO showcase Spatial Atomic Layer Deposition for Flexible Electronics"
