New PFS1200 Series Targets Ultra-compact Front-End Applications

Bel Power Solutions, a Bel group company, today announces the expansion of Bel Power Solutions Front-end, AC-DC and DC-DC power supply portfolio to include the PFS1200-12-054xx power supplies suitable for a wide range of server and networking applications.

The PFS1200 is a 1200W Platinum efficient family of front-end AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies that can convert up to 305Vac, or up to 400Vdc or 48Vdc into a main output of 12 Vdc for powering high performance and high reliability servers, storage, and networking appliances.

Each PFS1200 delivers a power density of 39 W/in3 and achieves Platinum efficiency (>94% efficient at 50% load) in an industry package measuring 54.5 x 40 x 228.6 mm (2.15 x 1.57 x 8.98 inches). The AC-DC stage uses soft switching resonant techniques to reduce component stresses, providing increased system reliability and very high efficiency, in conjunction with synchronous rectification. The AC-DC version also supports a DC input voltage range of 180-400 VDC. Active OR-ing on the output prevents reverse load currents making these supplies ideally suited for operation in redundant power systems. Power supplies are hot swappable and can be connected in parallel with active digital current sharing. An always programable 3.3V/5V or 12V standby output is also provided.

The PFS1200 features system communications via I2C Power Management Bus protocol and PSMI protocol allowing for full monitoring of the supply’s voltage, current, power output, temperature, and overall readiness status. Multiple protections such as overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature are standard. These power supplies meet international safety standards and display the CE-Mark for the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
