New OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFET family for automotive applications improves on-state resistance, switching efficiency as well as design robustness

Munich, Germany – 5 May, 2023 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) today announced the OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFET family, its latest generation of power MOSFETs for automotive applications in a variety of lead-free and robust power packages. The new family combines 300 mm thin-wafer technology with innovative packaging to deliver significant performance benefits in tiny packages. This makes the MOSFETs ideal for all standard and future automotive 40V MOSFET applications, such as electric power steering, braking systems, disconnect switches new zone architectures. OptiMOS 7 is also aiming at battery management, e-fuse boxes as well as DC-DC and BLDC drives in a wide range of variants.

“The OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family will set a new benchmark in power density, current capability and chip ruggedness,” said Axel Hahn, Senior Vice President Automotive MOSFET of Infineon. “With its leading edge technology, the family offers excellent efficiency and power in a compact design. The devices offer the highest power density and energy efficiency with the industry’s lowest on-state resistance.”

The new OptiMOS family members offer reduced switching losses, improved Safe Operating Area (SOA) robustness and high avalanche current capability. As a result, they facilitate the design of tomorrow’s high efficiency automotive applications. The devices are available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including TDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8 and topside cooling. The family enables high system efficiency in the smallest form factor while reducing space requirements. In addition, cooling can be improved while system costs are reduced. The devices enable easy design of products and applications with the highest quality.
