Infineon PSoC™ 4100S Max supports fifth-generation CAPSENSE™ technology with higher performance, lower power, and cost for HMI applications

Munich, Germany – 2 November, 2022 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) today announced the new PSoC™ 4100S Max family. It features expanded Flash memory and general-purpose inputs/outputs (GPIO) for next-generation human machine interface (HMI) applications to support the fifth-generation CAPSENSE™ touch sensors. Available in 7×7, 10×10, and 14×14 mm² packages, PSoC 4100S Max with CAPSENSE™ technology is ideal for industrial control, automotive HMI, home automation and large home appliances including robotics, inductive sensors, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, smart thermostats, and printers.

The Infineon PSoC 4100S Max includes up to 384K Flash memory – the largest PSoC 4 Flash memory in its class – up to 84 GPIOs, CAN-FD, high-speed, long-range wired communication, and I²S master for fully embedded audio solutions. The new features also include dual fifth-generation CAPSENSE blocks, which deliver differentiated HMI and touch sensing solutions. The next-generation Infineon PSoC devices also include a cryptographic accelerator for fast and efficient cryptographic functions for a more secure interface for tomorrow’s touch user interface applications.

“Infineon is a leading provider of capacitive touch solutions. The PSoC 4100S Max with next-generation CAPSENSE is the best yet with both mutual and self-capacitance sensing for various touchscreen features,” said Steven Tateosian, Vice President, IoT, Compute and Wireless Business Unit of Infineon. “This next-generation product provides the industry’s best touch sensing with scalability, while reducing the overall bill of materials for designers’ boards. Additionally, this family delivers industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio under some of the most severe touch sensing environments.”

Compatible with Infineon’s latest ModusToolbox™ 3.0 development platform, the devices allow developers a unique experience for a variety of use cases including consumer IoT, automotive HMI, industrial, smart home, wearable and other applications. In addition to PSoC 4, Infineon ModusToolbox 3.0 is also compatible for embedded applications using Infineon products including PSoC 6, XMC™, AIROC™ Wi-Fi, AIROC Bluetooth®, and EZ-PD™ PMG1 microcontrollers.

Availability

Infineon’s PSoC 4100S Max with fifth-generation CAPSENSE technology can be ordered now. Start of production for the AEC Q-100 automotive-qualified version is planned for Q2 2023. More information is available at www.infineon.com/PSoC4100smax. The PSoC 4100S Max will be showcased at the electronica tradeshow.

The new family is compatible with Infineon ModusToolbox™ 3.0 which can be downloaded from the Infineon Developer Center. This installation tool package is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Installation steps are detailed in the ModusToolbox Installation Guide. The latest releases of the ModusToolbox run-time software are accessible directly from the installed development tools.

Infineon at electronica 2022

At this year’s electronica tradeshow in Munich, Infineon presents solutions for the major challenges of our time. Semiconductors contribute to the green and digital transformation in many ways and are at the heart of every networked application. At electronica 2022, Infineon is now making clear why they are also key elements for a better future and how they pave the way to climate neutrality. The company will present intelligent and energy-efficient solutions for the connected world of tomorrow in hall C3, booth 502 from November 15 to 18, under the motto: “Driving decarbonization and digitalization. Together.” More information is available at www.infineon.com/electronica.
