Express Logic’s X-Ware IoT Platform® Brings Industrial-Grade Performance and Connectivity to AWS Greengrass

Express Logic Expands Current Amazon Web Services Cloud Support to Include AWS Greengrass

San Diego, CA, October 2, 2018 — Express Logic, provider of the industry-leading X-Ware IoT Platform® powered by the popular ThreadX® RTOS, today announced turnkey integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Greengrass software, extending the current direct X-Ware IoT Platform support for AWS.

Express Logic’s X-Ware IoT Platform is the industrial-grade alternative for AWS Greengrass customers who must quickly and easily develop devices and applications that connect to and are managed by AWS Services. The X-Ware IoT Platform was created entirely in house and designed from the ground up to be industrial grade.

“Cloud-networked IoT devices on the edge require reliable, safe, and secure connectivity all within a limited amount of memory and processing power,” said William E. Lamie, President, Express Logic. “By utilizing the industrial-grade X-Ware IoT Platform, AWS Greengrass customers can for the first time easily build, deploy, and connect billions of devices with confidence.”

X-Ware IoT Platform – Best Option for Commercial IoT Edge Devices

Express Logic’s high-performance ThreadX RTOS is the backbone of the X-Ware IoT Platform. With more than 6.2 billion deployments, as certified by VDC Research, ThreadX is arguably the world’s most widely preferred RTOS. ThreadX’s prominence stems from its small footprint, high performance, and advanced features, all designed and developed to be easy to use. ThreadX boasts a miniscule 2kb instruction area and 1kb RAM minimal footprint and exercises submicrosecond context switching, yielding speeds on popular microprocessors that are significantly faster than most RTOSes on the market today. In addition, ThreadX provides embedded developers with priority-based preemptive scheduling, preemption-threshold™ scheduling, real-time event trace, downloadable memory-protected application modules, and full determinism, all accessible through a highly intuitive API.

For IoT network and cloud connectivity, the X-Ware IoT Platform leverages the small footprint and near wirespeed of Express Logic’s NetX Duo™ IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP stack. NetX Duo has an unusually small footprint of 9KB to 15KB for basic IP and UDP support and typically achieves near-wirespeed data transfers on an 80MHz (or less) processor, while using fewer processor cycles than comparable stacks. Moreover, NetX Duo provides embedded applications with core network protocols such as IPv4, IPv6, TCP, and UDP as well as a complete suite of higher-level add-on protocols. For example, NetX Duo uses Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) to provide direct IoT cloud connectivity to all popular cloud service providers.

In conjunction with the performance and size advantages of the X-Ware IoT Platform, Express Logic’s ThreadX and NetX Duo have attained the highest level of safety certifications, including IEC 61508 SIL 4 (the highest, most dependable level as determined by IEC), IEC 62304 Class C, ISO 26262 ASIL D, EN 50128 SW-SIL 4, UL 60730-1 Annex H, CSA E60730-1 Annex H, IEC 60730-1 Annex H, IEC 60335-1 Annex R, and IEC 60335-1 Annex R, 1998. Furthermore, ThreadX and NetX Duo provide one of the most secure IoT software solutions on the market. ThreadX provides memory protection via the add-on ThreadX modules product while NetX Duo features a suite of industrial-grade add-ons including IPsec, SSTL, TLS, and DTLS.

The X-Ware IoT Platform exclusively supports all the performance, safety, and security requirements that AWS Greengrass embedded developers will be challenged to meet today and into the future.

X-Ware IoT Platform – Most Comprehensive IoT Development and Connectivity Solution

The X-Ware IoT Platform is more than just an RTOS and TCP/IP stack: it also includes Express Logic’s safety-certified FileX®embedded FAT-32/exFAT file system, the GUIX™ GUI development and embedded runtime framework, and the USBX™ embedded host/device USB stack. Embedded developers can leverage the entire X-Ware IoT Platform solution to create IoT applications that must do far more than simply communicate with the cloud.
