Bourns Introduces MEMS Environmental Sensor Designed for Ultra-Low Pressure Sensing in a Digital World

New Pressure Sensors Feature Digital Output with 3.3 V and Extended Ultra-Low Pressure Range Capabilities

RIVERSIDE, Calif., February 25, 2020 – Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today introduced a new environmental pressure sensor model that provides high accuracy, 3.3 V and ultra-low pressure range capabilities. Bourns® Model BPS125 pressure sensors are based on state-of-the-art Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology and deliver precision performance in a miniature package size. Designed for space-constrained, 3.3 V digital systems that demand extremely sensitive and accurate readings, Bourns® Model BPS125 is capable of measuring pressure in the 250 to 500 Pa range producing an amplified, calibrated pressure reading that can be acquired from the digital interface.

The fully calibrated and compensated digital output offered in Bourns’ new model aids in reducing processor workloads and removes the need for A/D conversion while providing long-term stability for reliable repeatability. The combination of features provided by Model BPS125 sensors also helps to improve the performance and efficiency of end applications making them ideal solutions for a range of industrial, consumer and medium/low-risk medical* designs including portable oxygen generators, nebulizers, CPAP equipment, diagnostic spirometers and gas chromatography equipment.

Bourns® Model BPS125 is highly sensitive and stable featuring a Total Error Band (TEB) of 1.5% FS over a temperature range of 0 °C to +60 °C (Six-Sigma process), and a lifetime drift of 0.5 % FS. The Model BPS125 features I2C digital output, and is offered in 250 and 500 Pa calibrations that assist in minimizing system calibration requirements and help support system uptime. Easily integrated, these new SMT board mount pressure sensors also help to reduce development time.

Bourns has earned its reputation for excellent quality and superior technical support that is backed by the company’s global supply chain. Model BPS125 ultra-low pressure sensors are available now and are RoHS compliant**. Bourns also offers customized port configuration and calibration.
