AVX Releases New High-Value Resistors

Ideal for use in MCMs, bias networks, & a variety of automotive, medical, aerospace, & test & measurement equipment, the new HR Series resistors deliver robust performance in a small EIA 0402 outline enabled with FLEXITERM® surface mount technology

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (January 17, 2018) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released the new HR Series high-value resistors. Featuring a glass wafer sandwich package enabled with AVX’s proprietary, automotive- and medically-qualified FLEXITERM® surface-mount termination technology in a small EIA 0402 outline, the new HR Series high-value resistors provide an extra margin against flexure damage during installation. Ruggedly constructed from high-quality materials that yield excellent performance in small sizes, the series offers: low current consumption, tight tolerances, DC power to 125mW, high voltage performance to 1kV, and an operating temperature range spanning -40°C to +125°C. Ideal applications include: multi-chip modules (MCM), bias networks, and a wide variety of automotive, medical, aerospace, and test and measurement equipment.

“This latest addition to our portfolio of high-value resistors is ideal for applications that require surface mountable resistors with a small EIA outline and enhanced protection against the damage that can result from flexure during installation,” said Larry Eisenberger, principal technical marketing engineer at AVX.

The new HR Series high-value resistors are currently available in a single outline (EIA 0402) with three TCR values (±50, ±100, ±250ppm/°C), four tolerances (±0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, and 5%), resistance values spanning 2.2MΩ to 20MΩ, and sheet resistance values spanning 300–1,300Ω/sq. Parts are shipped on tape and reel, and lead-time for the series is currently eight weeks.

Secure Authentication ICs for Disposable and Accessory Ecosystems
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Microchip
Secure authentication for disposable and accessory ecosystems is a critical element for many embedded systems today. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton and Xavier Bignalet from Microchip discuss the benefits of Microchip’s Trust Platform design suite and how it can provide the security you need for your next embedded design. They investigate the value of symmetric authentication and asymmetric authentication and the roles that parasitic power and package size play in these kinds of designs.
