Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2018: Rohde & Schwarz to showcase solutions for all communications trends in the automotive industry

Under the banner "Driving tomorrow's mobility", Rohde & Schwarz will present its wide-ranging portfolio of automotive T&M equipment at Automotive Testing Expo Europe (ATE 2018) in Stuttgart (Germany). The focus will be on applications in the areas of radar, V2X communications, eCall and automotive Ethernet for development, qualification and production.

Munich, June 30, 2018 — The automotive test solutions offered by Rohde & Schwarz are precisely tailored to the current requirements of the industry. Visitors can experience them live from June 5 to 7 at ATE 2018 in Stuttgart (hall 10, booth 1624).

Radar test Solutions
With the arrival of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), more and more vehicles are being equipped with radar sensors that assist the driver in critical situations. The radar T&M equipment from Rohde & Schwarz allows developers such as production engineers to test and improve the quality of their radar solutions. At ATE 2018 in Stuttgart, Rohde & Schwarz will be showcasing the following innovative radar test solutions:

– The new, unique R&S QAR imaging system reliably characterizes the spatially resolved transmittance of radar radomes within seconds
– Fast, reliable and precise testing of radar sensors at the end of the production line using the new R&S AREG100A radar echo generator and the R&S ATS1500A shielding chamber specifically designed for measurements on automotive radar sensors
– Wideband signal and spectrum analysis up to 85 GHz on automotive radars with the R&S FSW85
– Versatile testing using dynamic automotive radar scenarios during the development of radar sensors with the ARTS9510C automotive radar test system

Automotive Ethernet test solutions
Driver assistance and infotainment systems require significantly higher transmission bandwidths in the vehicle on-board system than can be provided by traditional bus systems such as the CAN bus. Vehicle manufacturers in the premium segment are already using automotive Ethernet. Rohde & Schwarz will present a test solution for the qualification of 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 automotive Ethernet interfaces. Using the R&S RTO2000 oscilloscope and the R&S ZND network analyzer, manufacturers can test and evaluate their electronic control units (ECUs) in the development phase and during type tests.

In addition, trigger and decode capabilities for Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes will be shown for troubleshooting and optimizing 100BASE-T1 products. The R&S Scope Rider handheld oscilloscope is available for investigating faults that occur during drive tests.

Networked vehicle communications (V2X) and eCall
Vehicle-to-everything communications (V2X) is crucial for developing fully autonomous vehicles, and cellular communications plays a key role here. At ATE 2018, Rohde & Schwarz will present the industry’s first solution for protocol and application tests for cellular 3GPP vehicle-to-vehicle communications (V2V) with the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester.

While the eCall emergency call system mandatory since March 31, 2018 still uses GSM, next generation eCall will be based on LTE. Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its proven eCall test solution, which uses the R&S CMW500 platform, to cover Next Generation eCall (NGeCall) even today. At ATE 2018, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate a test solution for LTE based next generation eCall. The solution employs an R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester acting as a network emulator with an integrated IMS server.

The test solutions from Rohde & Schwarz will be on display at Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2018 in hall 10, booth 1624. For more information about the currently available Rohde & Schwarz automotive radar test solutions, visit www.rohde-schwarz.com/ad/press/automotive.
