ASRock Industrial Releases Next-Gen iEP-5020G Industrial IoT Controller with Intel® Atom® x7433RE Processor

Taipei, Taiwan (April 16, 2024) ASRock Industrial is thrilled to introduce the latest iEP-5020G Series Industrial IoT Controller, powered by the Intel® Atom® x7433RE Processor (Amston Lake). This controller boasts enhanced computing power with up to four cores, upgraded graphic/AI inference performance of up to 32 EUs, and DDR5 memory with Intel® In-Band ECC support. With its fan-less and rugged design, the iEP-5020G Series features a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 70 °C and broad 6-36V DC power inputs, catering to various embedded and industrial applications. It provides versatile IOs and expansion options for seamless communication, with flexible configurations available in Basic, PoE, 5LAN, and 8DIO SKUs. Featuring TSN and Intel® TCC for real-time computing, it also includes rich RF capabilities like 4G LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and BT 5.2. Positioned as the preferred Edge Controller and IoT Gateway, the iEP-5020G Series excels in Edge AI applications such as process automation, factory automation, robotic control, smart cities, transportations, retails, and more.

Upgraded Performance with Intel® Atom® x7433RE Processor (Amston Lake)

The iEP-5020G Series features enhanced performance powered by the latest Intel® Atom® x7433RE Processor (Amston Lake), delivering enhanced CPU performance with up to four cores and elevated integrated GPU of up to 32 EUs for AI inference and media processing. Supporting one DDR5 4800MHz SO-DIMM memory up to 16GB and Intel® In-Band ECC, it ensures secure and dependable computing. The Series offers various selections for a wide range of edge AI applications, including the iEP-5020G-020 (Basic SKU), iEP-5020G-021 (PoE SKU), and iEP-5020G-022 (5LAN-WIFI SKU), as well as iEP-5020G-023 (5LAN-5G SKU) and iEP-5020G-024 (8DIO SKU).

Versatile IOs and Real-time Capabilities with TSN/TCC

To provide versatile input and output options, the iEP-5020G Series is equipped with two USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 2.0, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-C), eight digital inputs (DIs), eight digital outputs (DOs), and two RS-232/422/485 serial ports, facilitating connections with various industrial devices. Visual and audio excellence is achieved with one Type-C, one DP1.4a port, and one Mic in/Line out. The iEP-5020G Series also includes two 1G LAN (Intel® i210-IT) and one 2.5G LAN (Intel® i226-IT) supporting TSN, along with two 1G LAN (Intel® i210-AT) for iEP-5020G-021 (PoE SKU) and iEP-5020G-022/023 (5LAN SKU). Optional additions include two Intel® i210-AT ports for iEP-5020G-021 (PoE SKU), supporting IEEE 802.3AF Power over Ethernet (PoE). These Ethernet options coupled with Intel® TCC and TSN technologies, further enhance real-time computing capabilities at the edge. Moreover, by utilizing Intel® In-Band Manageability, users can execute essential Device Management operations over-the-air remotely.

Rich RF Capabilities and Flexible Expansions 

The iEP-5020G Series supports modern connectivity options, including 4G LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and BT 5.2 RF functionalities. It comes with two optional RF and antenna choices, including two Wi-Fi antennas along with three 4G LTE antennas or four 5G antennas. The Series offers various expansion possibilities, such as one M.2 Key E socket (2230/2260) for Wi-Fi/BT modules, a M.2 Key B socket (3042/3052) for 4G LTE/5G modules, and an external Nano SIM card slot for 4G LTE/5G modules. In terms of storage, the iEP-5020G Series provides flexible options, including a M.2 Key M socket (2280) with PCIe Gen3x2 for NVMe SSD and a Micro SD card slot, ensuring comprehensive storage solutions.

Rugged Design and Wide Range Temperature for Demanding Environment

The iEP-5020G Series features a compact and fan-less design measuring 58 x 125 x 157 mm (W x D x H), exhibiting robustness for demanding conditions. The robust power inputs feature a wide range, utilizing phoenix type connectors to provide a 6-36V DC input for iEP-5020G-020/22/23/24 (Basic/5LAN/8DIO SKU) and 19-36V DC input for iEP-5020G-021 (PoE SKU). Additionally, comprehensive power protection is guaranteed with Overcurrent Protection (OCP), Overvoltage Protection (OVP), Under Voltage Protection (UVP), and 80V Surge Protection. These models are equipped to withstand extreme temperatures, ranging from -40 °C to 70 °C for iEP-5020G-020/22/23/24 (Basic/5LAN/8DIO SKU) and -40 °C to 50 °C for iEP-5020G-021 (PoE SKU), and offer high resistance to shocks and vibrations, ensuring functionality and longevity in harsh environments. To enhance industrial security, the controllers come with built-in TPM 2.0, establishing a trusted computing platform. Furthermore, various mounting options, including DIN rail and wall mount choices, are available to cater to diverse applications, providing flexibility and convenience.
