AI, IoT, 5G startups to compete for industry’s most innovative in fog computing during Fog World Congress ‘Fog Tank’

Call for participants underway for early stage startups to present their game-changing fog technologies to a panel of VCs for $25,000 in prize money

FREMONT, Calif. (July 11, 2018) – Back by popular demand—and this year featuring a grand prize of $25,000—‘Fog Tank’ will showcase leading innovators in fog technologies and applications as they take the stage with investors at Fog World Congress on October 3. The call for entries is underway for startup companies to present to a panel of prominent venture capitalists and in front of hundreds of participants at the world’s largest conference on fog computing. The deadline to enter is August 15.

This year’s Fog World Congress will be held in San Francisco from October 2 – 3, with a pre-conference day of technical tutorials plus a research track on October 1. The Fog Tank is the closing keynote session of the conference.

“For a startup such as ourselves, the Fog Tank was a significant opportunity to get on a global stage in front of influential VCs and a packed audience of those interested in fog computing,” said Flavio Bonomi, CEO of Nebbiolo Technologies, which was named last year’s Fog Tank winner. “Fog World Congress is a great event focused on the transformational abilities of fog – and those technologies, applications and services that support it.”

Fog Tank is a graded competition where five finalists are each provided the opportunity to present their fog-related solutions/technologies on stage to a panel of tech-centric VCs.  The finalists are ranked and selected by a 7-member judging panel.  Each startup has 10 minutes to concisely present its technology or solution and describe its business plan. The VC panel will select one winner for the $25,000 prize that it deems to be the ‘foggiest,’ or having the right mix of innovation, biggest impact to the market and ability to execute.  Interested parties can view the 2017 Fog Tank online.

“The response to Fog Tank from the greater fog community has been excellent,” said Sam Bhattarai, master of ceremonies for the Fog Tank and Director of Technology & Business Enablement, Toshiba Digital Solutions Co. “It’s a terrific opportunity for these early stage innovators to showcase their efforts and for those of us in the field to gain insight into the mind-boggling innovation that is happening by these entrepreneurs. It also delivers strategic value to all early-stage companies as the experience provides insights into the mindset of VCs.”

Companies interested in being considered as a Fog Tank participant are asked to submit a short statement about their offerings and company. Finalists will be announced at the end of August. More information on submission requirements is at www.fogcongress.com/fog-tank.aspx.

Fog World Congress features the largest gathering of AI, IoT and 5G industry leaders, technologists and researchers in the world with an interest in fog computing. For more information, please visit www.fogcongress.com.
