Abaco and TTTech Aerospace Announce Collaboration to Deliver Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) Enabled Computing Solutions for Next Generation Ground and Future Vertical Lift Systems

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 23, 2024) AMETEK Abaco Systems and TTTech have announced a collaboration aimed at delivering cutting-edge Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) solutions to meet the demanding requirements of next generation programs in the North American defense industry. TSN is a family of open standards which offers real-time enhancements to Ethernet and is already widely used in industrial automation and automotive applications.

By merging Abaco’s proven rugged embedded computing capabilities with TTTech Aerospace’s deterministic Ethernet networking know-how, this collaboration offers robust solutions engineered to excel in mission- and safety-critical settings, such as the US Army’s Ground Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA). Notably, Abaco’s latest innovation, the SBC3513L computer board, incorporates TTTech Aerospace’s Switched End Point chip IP Core.

Mike Underwood, Division Vice President, and Business Unit Manager at Abaco, explained, “Our collaboration with TTTech Aerospace enables us to deliver SOSA-aligned, host computing solutions for safety-critical applications through TSN Switched Endpoints, ensuring deterministic networks from end to end. By embracing open standards, we can seamlessly integrate our products and deliver solutions to critical customers and platforms at an accelerated pace.”

Christian Fidi, General Manager, TTTech Aerospace, emphasized, “TTTech has been at the forefront of time-sensitive data communication for 25 years. This collaboration with Abaco allows us to leverage our deep digital backbone and safety know-how into a broader range of MOSA conformant compute platforms that are complementary to our industry-leading Ethernet-based aviation solutions portfolio.”

This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in delivering advanced networking capabilities to the aviation and ground vehicle markets, enhancing communication, and enabling mission success in complex operational environments.
